Prince William helps mother-in-law Carole Middleton as she suffers heel mishap at Royal Ascot 2024
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prince William recently drew praise for assisting his mother-in-law navigate a shoe mishap at Royal Ascot.
Although Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, did not attend the event, her husband and parents enjoyed their time together at the horse racing event.
Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children left people delighted as they attended the Trooping the Color event recently. Prince Louis charmed with his adorable antics during the balcony appearance.
Prince William holds mother-in-law Carole's hand as her heel gets stuck
William, 41, attended the horse racing event on June 19 with his wife Kate Middleton's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton. During the event, Carole's heel got stuck in the grass and came off her foot.
William held her hand as she slipped her shoe back on, and they both laughed at the minor wardrobe malfunction, as per People.
This wasn't William's first time dealing with such a situation; in 2013, he helped Kate when her heel got stuck in a grate at the Irish Guards' St Patrick's Day parade.
Princess Zara Tindall had a clever solution to avoid similar issues at the Buckingham Palace garden party on May 21, wearing protective stoppers on her heels to prevent sinking into the wet lawn.
Queen Elizabeth, who died in 2022, once mentioned that the weather could be a concern for garden parties, hoping for sunshine when inviting 8,000 people to tea.
William arrived at Royal Ascot in a horse-drawn carriage as part of the Royal Procession that kicks off each race day. Carole, 69, and Michael, 74, met him in the Parade Ring.
They were also seen catching up with Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara and Mike Tindall, and other royal family members before heading to the Royal Box to watch the races.
William and the other men in the Royal Enclosure wore top hats, as required by the dress code, which mandates morning dress in black, grey, or navy with a waistcoat and necktie. Carole wore a light blue dress with a matching hat, reminiscent of one of her daughter's memorable summer looks.
