During the event, Prince William met 10-year-old Carson Heighway who had drawn a portrait of the royal. The drawing depicted Prince William in his blue blazer and burgundy sweater, his well-groomed scruffy beard, and his thinning hair and bald spot.
Notably, Prince William took it in stride as he smiled and savored it. Moreover, this wasn't the only gift he got. Other gifts were given to him to pass along to his and Kate Middleton's children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, according to Nicki Swift.

Notably, there was also a visit from the regimental ram named Derby and a choir performance as part of the event.
King Charles III appointed Prince William as Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in 2023 and part of the duties of the position included holiday gatherings and learning about the needs of the military families.
Notably, this is the second time Prince William has visited with 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment and it falls into a long list of holiday duties for the prince and his family.
Prince William made fun of his thinning hairline in the past
In July 2023, Prince William appeared on the YouTube cooking series 'Sorted Foods' where he served meat-free hamburgers in a food truck to promote his Earthshot Prize charity. As he handed out the vegetable-based burgers, the royal shared some background on the initiative and cracked a joke about his appearance.
He said, "I don't know if you guys have heard about the Earthshot Prize, but it's an initiative I started about two years ago now, but it's been about four years in the making. I had hair when it started!"
Interestingly, his brother, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, recently got roasted for his receding hairline on TV. During a November episode of 'Family Feud', a round had contestants naming "something people know about Prince Harry." The options on the board were "Married to Meghan," "Princess Diana's son," and "Balding."
Prince William's beard inspires new cosmetic surgery trend
Earlier in 2024, Prince William debuted a beard which was popular among royal fans. Since then, his beard has become a regular fixture at official royal engagements.
Moreover, he has reportedly inspired other men to copy his facial hair, with some individuals going to extreme lengths to achieve the style.
A clinic in Turkey has experienced a huge increase in enquiries regarding beard transplants in the recent months, according to the Express. The co-founder of EsteNove clinic in Istanbul, Murat Alsac, named the new interest in the procedure as 'the Prince William effect'.
Alsac informed the outlet, "The number of transplants we are carrying out has increased by 200 percent. People are bringing in pictures of Prince William on their phones and saying, 'Make me look like that.' They think it looks rugged and masculine."
Interestingly, the Prince of Wales revealed his daughter Princess Charlotte's negative reaction to his beard in November. He said, as per People, "Well Charlotte didn't like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first one I got tears, so I had to shave it off."
He added, "Then I grew it back. I thought, hang on a second, and I convinced her it was going to be okay."
