LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans have expressed concern as Machine Gun Kelly has provided some explanation in his own words for why he has opted for a black ink tattoo covering the entire upper half of his body.

In a poignant new song called 'Don't Let Me Go', released on Wednesday, February 21, the rapper—whose fiancee Megan Fox stunned everyone with her new ink at a 2024 Grammys afterparty—alluded to having experienced a "breakdown" before receiving the blackout tattoo.

The Grammy-nominated 'Bloody Valentine' rapper, 33, unveiled his most recent piece of art on social media on Tuesday, February 20, which entirely blacked out his upper chest, including his nipples, and covered most of his arms.

Machine Gun Kelly's new song lyrics refer to his massive new blackout ink

The rapper, whose real name is Colson Baker, came out with a sad new ballad called 'Don't Let Me Go' just a day after going viral with pictures of his arms, chest, and torso covered in brand-new blackout tattoos.

The artwork quickly gained popularity, and many fans were curious about what MGK meant when he stated on Instagram that they were "for spiritual purposes only."

The song begins with Kelly—who has previously been outspoken about his struggles with mental health—rapping: "Lately my thoughts eating me alive / laid in the bed thinking maybe he'll finally go away if I'm not alive."

"Wish I didn't listen just like I wish they would understand me one time / I had a breakdown and tatted my entire body except one line / Everything's just fine," the performer adds.

In the corresponding music video, directed by Sam Cahill, MGK appeared solemn as he rolled up the sleeves of his black-and-white shirt to reveal the new artwork.

"Slippin’ again / there I go slippin’ again / I’m actin’ different again. I see my family’s reflection every time I look in the cup and I sip it again," Kelly continues.

"After this ends/tell me after all this ends will I be mentioned again? Why do I care if in the end, it’s just me and God like I’m Christian again."

The rapper seems to be addressing the strain in his personal life related to his relationship with fiancée Fox, fighting suicidal thoughts, and coping with his father's death, per Daily Mail.

One of Kelly's most emotional songs to date, says: "Who am I when the music stops / and the character that I’ve been playin’ is just broken and f–kin’ lost" in another stanza.

"I swear I’ve been tellin’ you over and over again in all of these songs / but they don’t hear nothin’ I’m writing ’cause they’re too busy tryin’ to write me off."
