LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Director Quentin Tarantino has made controversial statements regarding the 2021 shooting on the set of 'Rust,' suggesting that while Alec Baldwin is not entirely to blame for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, he does bear some responsibility.

The director appeared on Bill Maher's 'Club Random' podcast, released on Sunday, August 25, where Bill Maher labeled the prosecutors charging Baldwin in the case as "rubbish."

Quentin Tarantino claims 90% of fault for accident lies with armorer

Quentin Tarantino offered a somewhat different perspective, attributing 90% of the fault for the accident to the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. He suggested that the remaining responsibility falls on the actor and producer for not verifying the weapon's safety.

The 61-year-old director emphasized that actors must inspect their weapons to ensure the barrel is free of bullets and to check for any other issues with the firearm during a scene.

It should be noted that SAG-AFTRA, the union for acting professionals, has previously stated that they do not believe it is the responsibility of actors to inspect the safety of weapons on set, which contrasts with Tarantino's views on the matter.

For those unaware, the involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin was dismissed by New Mexico Judge Marlowe Sommer in July. This occurred after the revelation that prosecutors had intentionally withheld crucial evidence from the actor's legal team.

Baldwin, who faced up to 18 months in jail if convicted, is reported to have shed tears of joy in the courtroom when the verdict was delivered. According to TMZ, he has since filed a lawsuit against Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey and Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was sentenced to 18 months in prison in April, with Judge Sommer attributing the accident to her actions that rendered a safe weapon lethal.

At her sentencing hearing, she described herself as "young and naive," criticizing the media for portraying her as a "complete monster." She conveyed to the court that she had been overworked and under-resourced during the film's production.

According to Deadline, Judge Sommer, unconvinced by the arguments, criticized Gutierrez-Reed for failing to take responsibility and instead attributing the presence of the live round in the gun to others.

Internet says Alec Baldwin 'should be in prison'

As soon as the news surfaced on the Daily Mail platform, readers began blaming the actor. A user wrote, "Baldwin is 100% responsible for the death of Hutchins's death. He should of made sure the gun wasn't loaded." [sic]

Another added, "And, as the producer and director Alec is 100% responsible."

A commentator remarked, "Baldwin has MORE than 10% responsibility. The armorer wasn't even on the set that morning, she was told there was no more $ for her armorer position and she was re-assigned to work props/wardrobe."

"Baldwin skipped safety trainings. Workers had resigned that morning, citing 'super unsafe' conditions on set and pointing out that there had already been accidental misfires. Every corner was cut on this rushed production to save $, and the results took a young mother's life. Tragic for her husband, son and family members," the commentator added. [sic]

"Baldwin pointed a gun at her and pulled the trigger, he bears all the blame. You never do that even with an empty gun, its the first rule of gun safety," one said.

A person demanded, "Baldwin should be in prison. "

Another chimed in, "Baldwin is mostly responsible, mainly because he violated the first rule of gun safety - never point a gun at anyone unless you intend to shoot."
