Al B Sure!'s absence in Quincy Brown’s tribute highlights strained father-son relationship
What stood out in the post was the absence of Al B Sure!, Quincy’s biological father, with whom he had a strained relationship for many years. When Quincy was just three, Kim Porter began a relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs, who later adopted Quincy and raised him as his own.
Quincy’s bond with Diddy had been a prominent part of his life, especially in light of recent family challenges.
In March 2023, Al B Sure! made a public plea for Quincy to come home, posting a message on social media that read, “#LettertoMySon! Come Home. The [door] is wide open. You’re safe here son! I Love you, Popz, Your Biological,” per People.
Despite this, Quincy had shown loyalty to Diddy, particularly following a series of public challenges involving Diddy’s legal and personal issues.

Quincy Brown and his siblings release joint statement expressing support for Diddy
In response to these challenges, Quincy Brown and his siblings — Justin, Christian, Chance, D'Lila, and Jessie — released a joint statement supporting Diddy.
“The past month has devastated our family,” the statement began. “Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media.”
The statement continued, “We stand united, supporting you every step of the way. We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family. WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD. Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, Jessie & D'Lila.”
In an interview with People in April 2023, Quincy reflected on how growing up around Diddy shaped him. “I think I’ve been a sponge,” Quincy said. “Just seeing how he’s able to handle and juggle all these things, I took that from him as my most major takeaway.”
He also shared how Diddy took his children on tour with him. “I think my pops felt safer with us there, no matter what it was. He needed his family there, and I think having your kids as your road dogs was a win-win. It made everything go better.”
