'Real Housewives' star Ann Kaplan Mulholland blasted for being 'rude' to waiter at Cannes restaurant

CANNES, FRANCE: 'Real Housewives of Toronto' star Dr Ann Kaplan Mulholland was slammed on social media after a clip showing her dismissing a waiter trying to serve her pizza in a restaurant in Cannes went viral.

Mulholland, who reportedly has a net worth of $646 million, moved to the UK with her husband in 2022 to invest in a castle in Kent and has been attending some of the biggest European red carpet events, the Daily Mail reported.

Last week, Ann Kaplan Mulholland attended the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in France with her friends, where she decided to go out for a meal.

At the restaurant, a waiter came over to offer her a slice of pizza. The reality show star then looked at him with a blank expression while he placed it down on her plate and asked, "Do I look like I eat carbs?"

The waiter looked shocked as he removed the pizza from her plate and awkwardly walked away from her. She then turned her back on him and continued speaking to her friends. 

Interestingly, influencer Joey Swoll reposted the clip on X (formerly Twitter), which was originally posted by Mulholland, and captioned it, "You can tell a lot about someone from how they treat the waitstaff at a restaurant."

While clarifying the incident, Mulholland wrote on Instagram, "Regarding Joey Swoll’s social media posts, my video was entirely staged and intended to be satirical and a self-parody shot over a number of takes."

She added, "The waiter played himself serving a slice of pizza in the video, and we shared a laugh afterwards: he knew it was filmed and for my social media, as did all persons at the table."

She then took a swipe at Swoll and said that he took her reel and, devoid of context, added commentary that accused her of being arrogant and a narcissist.

"I would never behave in that way. Those who follow me know that I do only limited carbs, that I have many allergies and intolerances, and that joking about carbs is a feature of my social media content," she added.

Several internet users slammed Ann Kaplan Mulholland after a viral clip showed her dismissing a waiter who tried to serve her pizza in a restaurant in Cannes.

A user wrote on X, "If they treat the waiter like trash, imagine how they treat people when no one’s watching. Respect isn’t just for show, it’s a baseline for character. Watch closely. They always reveal themselves."
