Real reason why Diddy is allowed to wear his own clothes instead of prison jumpsuit to New York trial

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Opening statements in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal criminal trial began on May 12 after he was pressed with federal charges related to racketeering, trafficking, and other crimes following his 2024 arrest.
As per reports, the controversial rapper was allowed to wear his own clothes instead of a prison jumpsuit for the ongoing trial. Since his arrest last September, he has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs allowed limited number of clothing items
Sean "Diddy" Combs was “permitted to receive non-prison clothing” by a judge last month, as reported by E! News. However, the official order came with some restrictions as well.
“He is permitted to have up to five button-down shirts, up to five pairs of pants, up to five sweaters, up to five pairs of socks, and up to two pairs of shoes without laces to wear to court,” the court order stated.
The Tab reported that Diddy’s probably allowed to not go in jail clothes because “someone in a prison uniform could make them appear more guilty.”

The publication also addressed the limitation imposed by the court, as Diddy’s expensive outfits might influence the jurors, affecting the right to a fair trial.
This came after, in March, Diddy made a rare courtroom appearance in a beige-colored jumpsuit while sporting a grey beard and aging hair.
Cassie Ventura alleges ‘control was everything’ for Sean "Diddy" Combs

Meanwhile, the Bad Boy Records founder’s trial has seen his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, his former assistant David James, and artist Dawn Richard as witnesses until now.
Ventura, a key witness in the case, called the 55-year-old accused physically and psychologically abusive.
During her testimony, the 38-year-old claimed, as per CBS News, “Control was everything — from the way that I looked, to what I was working on that day, who I was speaking to. Control was an all-around thing to a certain point.”
Expert says Cassie Ventura’s testimony is not enough in Diddy trial
Cassie Ventura also gave details about Diddy’s “freak-offs” and recalled how she was threatened by him in 2011 when she began dating Scott Mescudi, also known as rapper Kid Cudi.

“He told me about videos that he had that he was going to release, and that he was going to hurt Scott and I,” the singer alleged, as reported by CNN News.
However, as per CNN senior legal analyst and former federal prosecutor Elie Honig, “Cassie Ventura is going to be the most important witness in this case, but she’s not going to be decisive. This is not over.”
