WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif) joined the chorus of prominent Democrats to call for President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 race.

Schiff's statement on Wednesday, July 17 emphasized the need for the president to "pass the torch" to ensure a stronger Democratic position in the upcoming election, reported the Los Angeles Times.

In his statement, Adam Schiff shared his doubts over Joe Biden's candidacy as he said, “But our nation is at a crossroads."

“A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November," he added.

Schiff, the former chair of the House Intelligence Committee has reportedly expressed his concerns to Democratic donors in private, suggesting that the party could face significant losses in the November election if Biden continues his candidacy.

On Saturday, July 13, Adam Schiff, who is now running for a Senate seat in California reportedly made these comments at a fundraiser in East Hampton, New York, just hours before Donald Trump's attempted assassination.

"I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose. And we may very, very well lose the Senate and lose our chance to take back the House," said Schiff, according to a source who had access to a transcription of the recording of the fundraiser, reported the New York Times.

Internet doubles down on Rep Adam Schiff calling on Joe Biden to step aside

As Adam Schiff has called on Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 race and questioned his ability to defeat Donald Trump, netizens doubled down on the high-ranking Democrat publicly expressing his stance over the president's candidacy.

"Dems entering Full Panic mode," a user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote while another individual tweeted, "And Schiff will lose support. Dumb. Cowardly."



 



 

"The polls are showing Schiff losing so he has to pretend to be concerned," a netizen comment and another wrote, "He's worried about his own race. Even in California (which is where I live) there is a shift. He knows Biden will hurt his race."



 



 

One user tweeted, "Yep. Good luck finding a Dem candidate willing to put their career on the line from the beatdown the Dems are going to take in November."
