WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent speech, Robert F Kennedy Jr, who recently suspended his independent presidential campaign, made a bold yet wildly inaccurate statement about the Republican National Convention (RNC) and its coverage of President Joe Biden, as per CNN.

Kennedy's statement, delivered on Friday, August 23, was intended to highlight what he perceived as the Democratic National Convention's (DNC) excessive focus on former president Donald Trump rather than substantive issues.

Robert F Kennedy Jr falsely claims Joe Biden was mentioned just twice during RNC

During his address, Robert F Kennedy Jr claimed, "In Chicago, a string of Democratic speakers mentioned Donald Trump 147 times just on the first day… Who needs a policy when you have Trump to hate? In contrast, at the RNC convention, President Biden was mentioned only twice in four days."

This statement was intended to illustrate a stark contrast between the two major political parties' conventions, suggesting that the Republicans were less focused on attacking their opponent, Biden.

However, Kennedy's assertion was quickly debunked. A thorough analysis by The New York Times revealed that the word "Biden" was mentioned 393 times during the RNC, a figure that starkly contradicts Kennedy's claim.

In fact, many high-profile speakers at the convention referenced Biden multiple times in their speeches.

Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, mentioned Biden 12 times during his own speech. Even Trump, whom Kennedy has endorsed, referred to Biden twice during his convention speech.

The notion that Biden was only mentioned twice over the course of the four-day event is not only inaccurate but also misleading.

Kennedy's claim about the RNC was not only wrong but also easily disprovable with a simple review of the convention's speeches.

The New York Times' analysis was corroborated by a quick transcript search, which revealed that several prominent Republican figures mentioned Biden multiple times.

For instance, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich mentioned Biden nine times during his address at the convention.

Similarly, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo referenced Biden eight times in his speech. Other speakers, including Nikki Haley, the former US Ambassador to the United Nations, and Republican Representatives Elise Stefanik of New York and Matt Gaetz of Florida, each mentioned Biden seven times.

The pattern continued with Donald Trump Jr, who referenced Biden four times during his speech, and US Senate candidate Kari Lake from Arizona, who did the same. Importantly, these numbers only account for explicit mentions of Biden's name.

Various other speakers criticized the current president without directly mentioning him.
