‘RHOSLC’ star Heather Gay claims body positivity is ‘all a big lie’ as she gets candid about Ozempic use
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: Heather Gay enjoys defending outrageous claims and now the 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' star has attacked critics of contentious weight-loss drugs like Ozempic. She has declared that the body positivity movement is "all a big lie".
Fans have expressed doubts about Gay's latest physical transformation as the 'RHOSLC' star had always embraced her curvaceous figure.
The 49-year-old 'RHOSLC' star talked about her experience using weight-loss medications to lose weight on ABC News on Friday, March 1.
She admitted that some have made her feel like she "sold out" in her weight-loss strategy, per PEOPLE.
Heather Gay claims to have 'given up' on body positivity, favors Ozempic
During an interview for 'Impact x Nightline' with Deborah Roberts, Gay divulged that she takes Ozempic—a medication intended to help people with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels while also aiding in weight loss.
However, despite not having diabetes, several celebrities have chosen to use this medication to reduce weight, which has generated controversy.
On the Friday night 'Impact x Nightline' segment, Gay stated that "it's better to not be overweight" and claimed that being slim still enhances one's feelings and treatment.
She claimed to have "given up" on body positivity and to now solely utilize Ozempic and other prescription weight-loss drugs.

"I've sold out," asserted the reality TV star, whose followers claim has an unrecognizable "new face" since she acknowledged using the medication for diabetes weight reduction in late 2023.
"I've given up the banner of, you know, accept yourself," Gay said.
After stating that "it is better not to be overweight," Gay— who had previously served as a spokesperson for body positivity for many of her fans—went on to say, "And it's disappointing and sad to know that body positivity was all a big lie," per Daily Mail.
The Bravo celebrity described the medication as her "last hope" for weight loss and claimed to have "absolutely" felt "pressure" before taking it.
Gay also acknowledged that she didn't want to "be resentful" or compare herself to other individuals.
"I didn’t wanna show up at another party and see all of my friends 20 pounds thinner and just be resentful," she remarked.
'RHOSLC' star Heather Gay feels 'valued' after losing weight
Gay revealed that she had started using Ozempic two months before.
"Everyone I knew was taking these GLP-1 medications, losing weight and just bragging about how great it was and magical," the celebrity claimed.
She described how the weight loss medication had made her life better and that she had never been happier. Gay claimed that as she began to lose weight, she observed that everyone was friendlier to her, even her Bravo co-stars.
Gay continued by discussing how her weight reduction had altered the way others perceived her and helped her realize that rather than being scrutinized for her size, people now "valued" her.
"Even after being on television, writing a New York Times bestselling book, for the first time, I was being valued — by my castmates, by the public — in a way that I had never been valued before," she remarked.
"And that felt, to me, sad."
After disclosing that she used Ozempic to lose more than 20 pounds, Gay added that she also experienced a mental shift as her confidence increased.
"I have transitioned from accepting myself, to feeling powerless against food and weight, and to accepting myself as someone that needs medical intervention in order to maintain a weight that feels healthy and positive for me," Gay admitted.
