Rihanna mocked over 'horrible' performance at Girls Love Karaoke event: 'My cat can sing better'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rihanna was mercilessly trolled after videos of her singing at the Girls Love Karaoke event in New York City on Sunday, December 29, emerged on social media platforms. 

The 36-year-old performed her songs 'Needed Me' and 'Sex With Me' at the event, as per Page Six.

In the viral clip, she was seen sporting a graphic T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and Bottega Veneta boots along with an oversized brown fur hat.

On X (formerly Twitter), the Red Media account shared the video with the caption, "Rihanna shows off her powerful vocals which could give Whitney Huston [Houston] a run for her money at a karaoke last night. Her fans already believe Beyonce will 'copy' her vocals for her next performance. Stay tuned…"

But critics weren't on the same page. They not only mocked her vocals but also called her out for not releasing a new album in years.

Rihanna’s last album, ‘Anti’, was released in January 2016.

Internet asks Rihanna to take 'singing lessons'

Among the many who criticized Rihanna over her karaoke performance, one wrote, "Riri... i love you... but before this mess u NEEDED to at least take some singing lessons.." 

A person said, "Chii 😭 the mic was bleeding," while someone else remarked, "Is this edited 🫣 this sounds horrible."

"Is this really Rihanna? My cat can sing better," declared an individual. One more mocked Rihanna, writing, "I didn’t know singing a simple note was this hard."

"This might be the reason why is she not dropping," quipped another person, with one saying, "Like karaoke to your own 2016 hit with nothing new released to the public?!!?" 

Rihanna fuels retirement rumors saying 'God had other plans for me'

Last month, the 'Work' singer fueled retirement rumors when at a Fenty Beauty event she said, "Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me," as per Page Six.

"I was able to create in ways that were very sincere and genuine, organic, and authentic to the things that I love. So, it doesn’t even feel like a job," the mother of two added.

One reacted to her remarks, writing, "She tryna tell yall that she is not releasing any music baby," while another said, "It’s a wrap. Hang up y’all hopes and dreams. Our girl is at home with her babies teaching them prayers."
