NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The feud between Riley Gaines and Simone Biles has taken a new turn as the conservative sports activist called out the Olympic gold medalist's old tweet amid a row over trans athletes.

Biles publicly condemned Gaines on June 6, for what she described as a harmful and targeted attack on a transgender high school athlete, per The Guardian.

Gaines unearthed a nearly decade-old tweet on Sunday, June 8, where the Olympian seemed to agree with Gaines’ stance.

The 2017 tweet read by Biles, "Ahhhh good thing guys don’t compete against girls or he’d take all the gold medals !!" as she apparently responded to the men’s division results at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Canada, according to the New York Post.

Gaines took a jibe at Biles as she retweeted her post and wrote, "Oop don’t you hate it when your past self completely undermines your current nonsensical argument?"

She added, "How has 2025 Simone reconciled with the fact 2017 Simone was a ‘truly sick bully’ by her own standard?"

The feud between the two began on June 6 when Biles aimed an unprompted tweet at Gaines amid furor over a Minnesota trans high-school softball pitcher whose shutout performance in the state finals last week helped win the championship, per the outlet.

Biles posted, "@Riley_Gaines_ You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race," while referencing Gaines’ tie during a race with trans University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA championship.

She mentioned, "Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!!"

Moreover, she later added, "Bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male."

Gaines reverted and called Biles’ comments "disappointing", and said it wasn’t her task to figure out how to include trans people in sports, per the outlet.

She said, "It’s not my job or the job of any woman to figure out how to include men in our spaces. You can uplift men stealing championships in women’s sports with YOUR platform. Men don’t belong in women’s sports and I say that with my full chest."

In a series of follow-up posts, Gaines reacted to Biles' comments with frustration, and called the seven-time Olympic gold medalist's views on transgender athletes "disappointing", and accused her of being a "male apologist at the expense of young girls’ dreams."

Internet slams Simone Biles as her old tweet about trans athletes resurfaces

A user wrote on X, "Simone is going to need a truck load of burn cream after that one," while one added, "Well that just might leave a mark… care to explain @Simone_Biles ?????"

A person stated, "I wonder what the paycheck was for Biles to flip, it's all about the money," whereas one mentioned, "They never realize the internet is forever!!!"

A user also wrote, "History Simone clearly wishes Simone wasn't part of," while one commented, "Sold her soul for fame and fortune!"
