LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough opened up on a surprising moment from her teenage years, sharing how her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, reacted when she got arrested.
The 'Daisy Jones & the Six' star reflected on her “rebellious” phase during an appearance on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast on January 15.
Riley Keough details how she got arrested as a minor
Riley Keough, 35, revealed the unexpected incident that led to her brief stint in trouble with the law and how it shaped her relationship with her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley.
During the podcast, Keough shared a story from her youth, explaining that she was arrested as a minor after unknowingly breaking.
“I went to a party at my friend’s house, but I didn’t know that it wasn’t my friend’s house,” Keough said, recalling the event.
“It was a house for sale. The police came, and most people got away. And then about 10 of us got arrested,” she added.
Lisa Marie Presley wasn't pleased when she found out about Riley Keough's arrest
Riley Keough's mother, Lisa Marie, was less than pleased when she found out.
“She was like, ‘This is on you girl,’” Keough said, describing Presley’s reaction. Keough admitted she was “lucky” that the incident didn’t make the news, reported Page Six.
Keough revealed that she was grounded for three months after the arrest, adding, “I was grounded for, like, three months … on my 16th or 15th birthday or something. …"
"She was in Las Vegas, and I had to call her and tell her to come back from Vegas and pick me up in prison," Keough said of Lisa Marie.
Even though Lisa Marie was unable to return herself, she sent one of Keough’s aunts instead.
Lisa Marie Presley’s life changed during her marriage to Michael Jackson
Riley Keough also opened up about the time when her late mother was married to Michael Jackson between 1994 and 1996. She reflected on how their life changed during that period.
“Our life wasn’t crazier because that already existed,” Keough said. However, she noted that Presley’s life expanded after seeing Jackson’s lifestyle.
"There were things that he had that she didn’t have. Like, she didn’t have a plane at the time, you know things like that," Keough said.
"She was then like, ‘Oh, I should have a plane. I should have this and that.’ So, our life in that way kind of got bigger,” she added.
Ril, whose father is Danny Keough, highlighted the contrast between her mother’s life before and after the marriage.
“Before that, she was with my dad, and their life was very simple. At home, she didn’t have 10 million assistants. She didn’t need all of that. I think that changed,” she shared, E Online! reported.
Lisa Marie, daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died in January 2023 at age 54. Keough and her twin half-sisters, Finley and Harper, survived their mother.
