Robert Irwin extends special honeymoon invitation to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Australia Zoo
BEERWAH, AUSTRALIA: Conservationist and zookeeper Robert Irwin is once again championing Australia Zoo for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, this time as the perfect honeymoon destination after previously encouraging them to marry there.
Irwin believes the zoo could still play a role in the couple's celebrations, explaining why the destination, along with its luxury accommodation, would make the perfect honeymoon getaway. The couple tied the knot in a star-studded, lavish ceremony at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
Robert Irwin pitches Australia Zoo as the perfect honeymoon destination
Back in December, the 22-year-old wildlife conservationist, who works with his family at Australia Zoo in Queensland, invited Swift and Kelce to consider Australia for their wedding.
“One of the things that we do that is the most popular is weddings at Australia Zoo. We have hosted many,” Robert said.
He made the remarks during PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek of ABC News’ 15th annual year-end special, 'THE YEAR: 2025,' which aired on December 29.
He said, “We have this beautiful, and I mean beautiful, location overlooking the African savanna, where rhinos and giraffes are just frolicking out in the open, in the wild. And you get married over that, and it’s stunning.”
The 'Dancing with the Stars' season 34 champion and current 'Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro' host explained that the zoo has hosted “quite a few” weddings, with couples describing exchanging vows there as “a life-changing experience."
He added, “Wow, Travis and Taylor. You know what’d really, in my opinion, just absolutely make that wedding is if it was an Australian wedding. Hit me up. I got you.” However, he still believes Australia Zoo could be part of their celebration.
“Well, I mean it was between Australia Zoo and Madison Square Garden, you know, it’s a long flight, it’s alright, I don’t blame them,” he told Access Hollywood in an interview released on July 13.
Irwin then suggested the couple consider the destination for their honeymoon instead.
He said, “Honeymoon is on the table. I literally have a five-star luxury accommodation, The Crocodile Hunter Lodge, at Australia Zoo. I mean, you’ve got an infinity pool looking over a paddock full of kangaroos. If that doesn’t say honeymoon, I don’t know what does.”
Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce enjoy married life
Robert Irwin also joked that he would show the newlyweds “how to wrangle a crocodile,” adding, “They’d love it.”
The Crocodile Hunter Lodge is described on Australia Zoo’s website as “a luxury accommodation surrounded by wilderness and native fauna,” inspired by Irwin's late father, Steve Irwin’s, life, legacy, and love for wildlife.
It further states, "Guests can also view native animals including red kangaroos, emus and koalas while relaxing in the property's 25-meter-wide infinity pool."
Following their star-studded wedding, Swift and Kelce spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s brother, Jason Kelce, and his wife, 'Not Gonna Lie' podcast host Kylie Kelce, in Montana, a source told PEOPLE.
The couple also attended NFL star JuJu Smith-Schuster’s wedding in California just one week after their own ceremony.
“They’re really excited to enjoy a few weeks of newlywed life before football season gets going again,” an insider close to the couple recently told the outlet.
Photos from Smith-Schuster’s July 10 wedding also offered a glimpse of the couple’s new wedding bands. Swift paired hers with Markarian’s $2,895 Laila floral brocade gown and her signature red lip, while Kelce wore his band with a suit and tie.
