MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Robert Pattinson has explained why he did not attend Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's lavish wedding on Friday, July 3, despite his fiancee, Suki Waterhouse, being among the guests.
Waterhouse, who has been friends with Swift for years and previously opened for the 'Eras Tour' in London, attended the ceremony while Pattinson remained busy filming 'The Batman.' The couple have been engaged since December 2023 and share a 2-year-old daughter whose name has not been publicly revealed.
Why Robert Pattinson missed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding
During the premiere of filmmaker Christopher Nolan's upcoming film 'The Odyssey,' a reporter asked Pattinson about missing the wedding while Waterhouse attended. "They were giving away cars and watches at the wedding. Suki went, you didn't go, you stayed here. Why not?" the reporter asked.
Pattinson replied, "It's working, shooting Batman. I was shooting Batman this morning. We're giving away lots of stuff. What did I get? I would make a call real quick."
Before the wedding, Waterhouse confirmed that she would be attending Swift and Kelce's ceremony.
Speaking with Variety, the musician and model said she was looking forward to the event and joked that she might even take inspiration for her own wedding to Pattinson.
"Nothing scarier than the actual planning part, right?" Waterhouse said, adding, "I'm gonna go to Taylor's wedding, and maybe I'll get some inspiration. It will be amazing."
Elsewhere in the interview, Waterhouse praised Swift for creating life-changing opportunities for fellow artists.
"Knowing her as a friend, she's actually been through so much," she said, adding, "And I think the thing I always see in her is how she pulls herself through every time."
She further said, "how everything that's ever happened to her becomes another piece of art that becomes part of the legacy. That's so inspiring — that's the artist that you want to be."
Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse fuel wedding speculation
Waterhouse and Pattinson have been romantically linked since July 2018, and a source confirmed to PEOPLE in December 2023 that the couple had quietly gotten engaged, adding that marriage is "important" to them.
They share a 2-year-old daughter, whose name has not been publicly announced.
Marriage speculation continued in March when Pattinson and his 'The Drama' co-star Zendaya appeared together in an interview with Extra.
When asked about the biggest secret he had ever kept, Zendaya joked that "nothing comes to mind" amid Tom Holland marriage rumors, while Pattinson replied that his secret was "the same" as hers.
Rumors that Pattinson and Waterhouse had already tied the knot first surfaced in January 2025 after Sharon Stone referred to Pattinson as Waterhouse's "husband" during the American Heart Association Red Dress Collection Concert in New York City. According to reports, Waterhouse did not visibly react or correct the remark.
Later, while attending the Paris premiere of A24's 'The Drama,' Pattinson shared his best wedding advice with Brut.
"Don't make such a big deal about it, don't get so stressed," he said, adding that many couples become so overwhelmed by wedding planning that they "ruin it for themselves" before the day arrives.
