LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sharon Stone praised the hit HBO series 'Euphoria', calling it one of the "greatest shows on television," highlighting its "honesty" and "relevance."
The 'Basic Instinct' actress said the Zendaya-Sydney Sweeney-led drama should be shown in every high school. She noted that its portrayal of teenage substance abuse and difficult life choices makes it an important viewing for both parents and students.
Stone, who is also part of the show, said it connects to her own life and family struggles and can help young people learn important lessons.
Sharon Stone says 'Euphoria' should be shown in schools
Stone, who appears in the latest season as Hollywood executive Patty Lance helping Lexi Howard navigate the entertainment industry, spoke about the series during a conversation with Keke Palmer on Variety’s 'Actors on Actors'.
She shared that the first episode had a strong emotional impact on her and described the series as honest and unfiltered rather than offering a neatly resolved ending. Stone said the show feels highly relevant and believes it should be shown in schools, with parents also encouraged to watch it.
She also called the series one of the best on television, praising its portrayal of young people growing into adulthood while dealing with serious issues such as addiction and difficult life choices.
Stone added that the subject matter felt personal to her as well, referencing her family experiences, including her brother Michael’s long struggle with substance abuse and time in prison, which deepened her connection to the story.
This is not the first time Stone has spoken about her personal life. In 2023, according to People, while hosting the ART HOUSE Gala, the actor and activist focused her speech on the substance-related issues she has faced within her family.
For those unaware, 'Euphoria', created by Sam Levinson, follows the life of teenage addict Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, and her high school friends, portrayed by actors including Sweeney and Jacob Elordi.
Sharon Stone, Keke Palmer reflect on the pressures of Hollywood and Industry challenges
Stone and Palmer discussed the demanding nature of the film and television industry, with Stone describing it as 'not easy' and noting how intense work schedules can take a toll on the body and disrupt the mind-body balance. It beats your body to a pulp because you work unbelievable hours," said Stone.
Palmer agreed, saying the glamour of the industry can often be misleading. Stone also spoke about her past connection with filmmaker Barry Levinson, reflecting on what drew her to her role in 'Euphoria'.
