Robert Pattinson makes rare 'Harry Potter' callback, jokes about sending daughter to Hogwarts
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor Robert Pattinson has shared a rare insight into family life, revealing that a school is already being considered for his two-year-old daughter, shared with fiancée Suki Waterhouse.
Speaking in a recent interview with GQ while promoting filmmaker Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey,' he discussed how upcoming work commitments in London have influenced thoughts about his daughter’s education and reflected on several experiences from the journey into fatherhood.
Robert Pattinson’s Hogwarts-inspired school plan for his daughter
During the interview, Pattinson revealed that a school for child actors associated with the upcoming 'Harry Potter' television series had caught his attention while discussing plans for his daughter, shared with Suki.
With 'The Batman: Part II' set to film in London and the new 'Harry Potter series' also being produced nearby, Pattinson explained the appeal of the school, saying, “This is where you're going to go to school. To Hogwarts. And I legitimately think that might actually be her first school.”
Pattinson, who welcomed a daughter with Waterhouse in March 2024, largely keeps the child out of the public spotlight but has occasionally shared stories about fatherhood during interviews.
During an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' in March, He revealed that the toddler immediately recognized him in the trailer for 'Dune: Part Three,' despite his nearly unrecognizable transformation as the villain Scytale.
"She immediately recognized me, which is really strange from the trailer," he told host Jimmy Kimmel, adding, "Yeah, but she like kind of looked at my head and pointed it, and she's like, 'Eggy on the top.' I was like, 'Are you saying I look the whole head looks like an egg or is it there's an egg on top of my head?'"
Robert Pattinson reveals daughter has already watched his movies
In a January interview with GQ, Pattinson was asked when he planned to start showing his daughter movies starring her parents. Laughing, the actor replied, “Oh, she has seen so many of them already.”
He then joked about trying to impress the toddler with his work. “If I'm not getting any respect, I'll be like, 'Who's this? Who's that on the screen?' And she's like…[blank stare]. And I'm like, 'It begins with a D! Ends with a Y!' She's watching Mickey 17,” he said.
The actor also spoke about how becoming a parent influenced work on 'Die My Love,' in which he stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence as new parents. Speaking to PEOPLE at the film's premiere, he explained that production coincided with the birth of his daughter, making the role feel particularly personal.
“My daughter was basically the same age as a child in the movie,” Pattinson said, adding, “So you're kind of going through incredibly similar stuff.” Reflecting on fatherhood, he added, “You don't know — no one knows how to do it correctly. I mean, you can just try your best.”
Pattinson also described spending time with the parents of the twin babies who appeared in 'Die My Love,' calling the experience “fascinating.” According to the actor, conversations with them revolved around parenting and childcare in ways he had never imagined before, saying they were having “an entirely different conversation” and “only talking about, I don't know, nappies.”
