Her move comes amid concerns about the political climate in the US.
In a TikTok video posted on March 11, Rosie O'Donnell spoke about her new life abroad, stating that she is in the process of obtaining Irish citizenship due to her family's heritage.

O'Donnell expressed appreciation for her new surroundings, describing the transition as positive.
"It's been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming. And I'm very grateful," O'Donnell said in the TikTok video.
She also explained her decision to leave, noting that she never thought she would move to another country.
"I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that's what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. And here we are," O'Donnell said, as per People.

Rosie O'Donnell appeared to reference changes in the country since Donald Trump's presidency, adding that recent political events have affected her personally.
"It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know," she said in the video.

Her confirmation follows speculation after she posted several hints about her move on Instagram.
In one post on March 7, she took a selfie in a car and mentioned the challenges of driving on the opposite side of the road.

Bought a little used car to tool around the countryside on the wrong side of the road. Hit the curb three times - thought I hit a cat!!! #newadventures," O'Donnell wrote in the caption, as per MEAWW.

She also shared a picture of Dakota in the backseat with her school backpack, further suggesting her relocation before officially announcing it.
