LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The bromance between Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal has come to an end after both former roommates were rumored to be the actor responsible for the harassment scandal involving actress Rebecca Ferguson, Radar Online reported on Monday, February 24.
Ferguson had sparked speculations in February 2024 when she accused an unnamed "idiot" co-star of screaming at her at one time, which led to her crying and walking off the set.
Gyllenhaal and Reynolds both starred with Ferguson in the 2017 sci-fi thriller 'Life', which followed the lives of six astronauts going to Mars in search of alien life and getting more than they bargained for.

Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal used to be very close friends who once even lived together in an apartment in New York City. However, sources told Radar Online that they split up after both were accused of being the actor who harassed Ferguson.
As per the news outlet, when Ferguson revealed that the person she referred to in the interview was neither Hugh Jackman nor Tom Cruise, with whom she had starred in other projects, speculations intensified on Reynolds being said the "idiot."
"They (Reynolds and Gyllenhaal) were like brothers. However, the reality of Hollywood friendships is often far more ruthless. Once someone feels betrayed, there's no turning back," an insider spilled.
"Rumors swirled that when Rebecca opted not to collaborate with a difficult former co-star, people pointed to Ryan as the person who made her cry," they continued. "But Ryan ensured the blame was redirected. Just hours later, Jake was suddenly painted as the villain. That was no coincidence!" the source added.

During her appearance on a podcast in 2024, Rebecca Ferguson accused one of her co-stars, whom she did not name and only revealed as "Number 1" on the call sheet, of humiliating her in front of everyone on set.

"I did a film with an absolute idiot of a co-star, and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out," she stated.
"And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at, and I would cry walking off set," the actress added.
She claimed that the bullying worsened over time, adding, "This person would literally look at me in front of the whole crew and say, 'You call yourself an actor? This is what I have to work with?' I stood there just breaking. Because this person was No. 1 on the call sheet, there was no safety net for me. No one had my back."
