Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan split over ‘frustrating’ reason, insider says ‘as of now it’s over’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sabrina Carpenter, 25, and Barry Keoghan, 32, have drawn the curtains on their year-long relationship, and insiders are saying “distance” had a big role to play in it.
The rumors of the ‘Espresso’ singer and the ‘Saltburn’ actor first came to the fore when they were spotted on a dinner date in December 2023, in Brentwood, California. However, within a year, it has been revealed that the couple has called off their romance.
Recently speaking to Life & Style, a source dived deep into the reasons behind their breakup and claimed their busy schedules to be responsible for the sad ending to their relationship.
‘It’s over’ between Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan
Speaking to the outlet, the source revealed that professional commitments created a chasm between Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan, and “the long-distance factor really did them in".
The ‘Please Please Please’ songstress has been touring since September when she started her Short n’ Sweet Tour. Keoghan, on the other hand, is currently filming ‘Crime 101’ in Los Angeles.
“It was frustrating being apart so much, and the long-distance factor really did them in,” shared the source while speaking to the outlet.
However, all is not lost as the source says the former couple is open to revisiting their relationship in later days.
“Sabrina and Barry aren’t opposed to revisiting their relationship later down the road, but as of now: It’s over,” declared the source.
After the initial rumors of their dating floated in December last year, the former couple appeared together in several outings, including at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars party in March.
Their first red carpet appearance was, however, during the Met Gala in May. In the next month, Keoghan even appeared in the ‘Feather’ hitmaker’s music video of ‘Please Please Please’.
Barry Keoghan issues statement on Sabrina Carpenter breakup
As the rumors of their breakup started swirling earlier in December, Barry Keoghan faced backlash online after a section of netizens accused him of cheating on Sabrina Carpenter.
On December 7, the ‘Bring Them Down’ actor issued a statement addressing the cheating rumors and revealed that he was taking a break from social media to protect his son, Brando.
He wrote in the statement, “I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to.”
He further added, “I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where there are too many lines being crossed. I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them.”
“Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine,” continued the star in his post which has since been circulated as a screenshot.
