LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Prince Harry's friends refuse to visit him in the US over their "rifts" with his wife Meghan Markle.

This has reportedly prompted him to look for a property in the UK, aiming to have a base in London rather than staying in hotels, which he has been doing since last year, as per the New York Post

The Sussexes haven't had a permanent place to stay in the country since they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage in June 2023.

According to royal commentator and expert Tom Quinn, Prince Harry, feels "sad" that he no longer has a British address.

Quinn claimed, "As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK. Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles."

Talking about the Duke of Sussex's friends, the royal expert noted that many of them "have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan."

"Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security," further mentioned Quinn, referring to the London High Court’s decision to strip the couple of taxpayer-funded UK security protection.

Internet reacts to Prince Harry's search for a London residence

After learning about Harry's intention to buy a place in his native country, many netizens have taken to Facebook to share their thoughts.

One wrote, "Must be nice to be able to have a place to go when you return home once a year for 2 or 3 days. I’d think a hotel would be cheaper and better," and another added, "He should have thought some of these life decisions through more carefully. I get being in love but leaving all his family and friends behind to live in a country that is not his homeland is quite."

"It's only a matter of time he'll spend more time in the UK," noted a person, while someone else suggested, "Try Italy instead."

An individual asked, "When is the return voyage back to London…."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had to return the keys to Frogmore Cottage after renouncing royal duties

Earlier this year, Prince Harry was told to pay 90% of the UK Home Office’s legal costs for defending the court's ruling.

In February, a High Court judge ruled that the court wasn't wrong in stripping the Sussexes of their security in February 2020 after they stepped down as senior royals and moved to the US.

The couple was also asked to return the keys to Frogmore Cottage, which they thought would "always be there for them." The late Queen Elizabeth II gave the Sussexes the lease of the home as a wedding gift in 2018.

Earlier this year, Prince Harry renounced his British residency and called America his home in new paperwork. He stated that his "new country/state" was now the "United States." This change was backdated to June 29, 2023, the same day he and Meghan officially vacated the Frogmore Cottage, leaving them without an official UK residence.

Experts think the date shows how much his father’s decision hurt him. After leaving the property, the Sussexes tried to get back the $2.8 million they spent on renovations.

King Charles initiated the eviction process in January 2023, just a day after Prince Harry’s memoir 'Spare' was published.

As they lack a UK residence, Prince Harry and Meghan usually stay with friends or in hotels when they visit the country. Across the pond, the couple resides in a lavish $14 million mansion in Montecito, California, with their son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
