LEON VALLEY, TEXAS: According to San Antonio police, the unexplained deaths of a teenage girl who was about to give birth and her boyfriend are currently being looked into as capital murder cases.

Described as an 'unspeakable tragedy', the case involves 18-year-old Savanah Soto and her boyfriend, who was discovered dead a few days after the Texas woman was supposed to have an induction.

Police said they were searching for two additional people.

'Case being looked into as a capital murder'

First reported by the police, the bodies of a 22-year-old man who was thought to be Soto's boyfriend, Matthew Guerra, and an 18-year-old full-term pregnant woman were found in a Kia Optima in San Antonio on Tuesday.

Authorities said that a dead unborn child was also discovered. According to police, the car had probably been there for a few days, ABC News reported.

The victims have been positively identified as Soto and Guerra by the medical examiner in the days after the discovery, according to police. Police reported that both victims had gunshot wounds.

Guerra was shot in the head and died as a result, according to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, but the cause of death has not yet been determined by the medical examiner.

Police do not currently think that this is a murder-suicide, but the chief stated that "that possibility exists." According to him, the case is presently being looked into as a capital murder of both victims.

"It was a heinous act, it was unspeakable, the tragedy of it," McManus stated. On Thursday, the police made a video of two people of interest they were looking for about the case public.

Texas police discovered two bodies in a Kia Optima

According to police, one was seen operating the victims' Kia Optima while the other was observed operating a pickup truck with a dark color.

The driver of the victims' car is seen conversing with the person of interest in the pickup truck. According to McManus, neither victim is seen in the video. The case was described by McManus as "very, very perplexing" after the bodies were found.

"It was undetermined at that time whether we were going to be looking at it as a murder-suicide, or as a capital-murder investigation," he stated on Thursday.

"I think we've gotten past that point right now unless we get evidence that would lead us to believe otherwise."

Originally from Leon Valley, Soto, 18, was last seen on December 22, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

On Monday, the organization placed a CLEAR Alert for Soto, which is intended to assist law enforcement in finding someone who is in danger or whose disappearance was not voluntary.

The Leon Valley Police Department stated in a press release earlier on Tuesday that the pregnant teen had passed her delivery date, which "caused significant concern among her family members after missing an essential medical appointment."

Detectives are examining cellphone, social media, and surveillance footage

Gloria Cordova, the mother of Soto, informed the San Antonio ABC affiliate KSAT that her daughter was due to be induced this past Saturday at a hospital.

Cordova told the station, "When I called her all morning she wasn't answering, was going straight to voicemail. We went to the hospital anyway. She was a no-show, and that's when I called the cops." Cordova reported that her daughter's house was ready for the baby's arrival and was clean.

"This is not like her," Cordova told KSAT. "She was so excited to have this baby. The house was already baby-ready."

According to the chief, detectives are looking through cellphone and social media records, as well as days' worth of surveillance footage from multiple locations where the victims were known to be.

"Detectives are hopeful that surveillance video will lead to the events leading up to their death," McManus stated.
