NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Savannah Guthrie discussed throwing away things left behind by her former 'Today' co-host Hoda Kotb from the NBC sets during her appearance on the Wednesday, January 15, episode of 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'.

She was accompanied by her new co-host Craig Melvin during the interview, who is set to take over from Kotb on 'Today'.

According to US Weekly, Kotb ended her run as the 'Today' host on Friday, January 10. She had joined the show as an anchor after her predecessor Matt Lauer was fired over sexual harassment allegations in 2017.

During her conversation with Jimmy Fallon, 53-year-old Savannah Guthrie, a co-worker turned close personal friend of Hoda Kotb, 60, joked about throwing out bits and trinkets left behind by her ex-coanchor on the set of 'Today'.

"It’s a new era, it’s the Craig (Melvin) era, and we go and we sit on the set and there are these trays,” she shared and continued, "It might have a mint or whatever it is. We realized that all of the trays, they were all Hoda’s stuff and it was, like, one contact and expired bean dip and belly button lint and all this stuff.”

Guthrie reportedly sent Kotb a hilarious video of throwing her stuff out, which Fallon shared with his audience.

"Oh, hey girl. Guess you didn’t want any of this s**t. Don’t mind me,” she quips in the clip before throwing the Kotb’s tray items into the garbage. “Love you,” she dded.

She later joked about how the tray itself looked messy, saying, "It had, like, rusted barnacles on it. I mean, it was disgusting.” Kotb was also called out by Guthrie for opting to use a plastic bag over a purse at some red carpet-events.

"And the Ziploc (bag), which is clear, will have a banana and a tampon (in it),” she shared.

Kotb also shared warm words of welcome for her successor, saying, "Craig, I’m so happy for you. You’ve earned this, you own this, and come Monday at 7 o’clock a.m., I am gonna be dead asleep.
