Scott Disick wouldn't hesitate to jump in and help son Mason if he sees a 'hereditary' alcohol problem
As Mason grows older, Scott Disick mentioned that these conversations occur "all the time." The reality star shared that the teenager was initially concerned about being "treated differently" due to his father's past with alcohol. However, Disick clarified that he would only step in if he believed something was truly wrong.
"I said … 'If I see a problem with alcohol with you, I will take action. But other than that, you’re just like every other kid. You’re gonna try drinking when you’re gonna try drinking,'" he noted.
"If I see a problem that might be hereditary, then I’ll jump in," Disick stressed.
This comes months after Disick discussed his past struggles with alcohol in the Season 5 finale of 'The Kardashians'.
"There was probably 10 to 15 years there I was..." the father of three began to speak, but Khloe interrupted him, saying, "Doing things he shouldn’t have been doing."
"I was going pretty heavy in the drugs," Disick revealed. "Yeah, drugs and alcohol were a big, big... [It was] 15 years of really beating myself down."
Kourtney Kardashian once expressed concern over Scott Disick's addiction struggles
The Talentless founder's issues with alcohol were also a major factor in his breakup with his longtime girlfriend, Kourtney Kardashian, in 2015. Despite their separation, the two continue to co-parent their children, Mason, 15, Penelope, 12, and Reign, 10.
However, in a 2017 episode of 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians', Kourtney expressed to her sisters that she didn't want their children to "see him like that" while he was struggling with addiction.
"We’ve been in the same pattern for 10 years plus — if there was something I could do to help Scott help his situation or help his addiction, I would do it in a heartbeat. But I’ve learned it’s out of my control," she stated at the time.
Kourtney went on to say, "I’m really just concerned with his health. He needs to help himself ... I feel helpless because I don’t always know what to do because it’s been so many years of trying. It’s just stressful because he is my kids’ father."
