Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs requests to dismiss certain claims in 1991 sexual assault lawsuit citing outdated laws
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has filed a motion against the lawsuit of a woman who accused the embattled music producer of sexual assault.
On Friday, April 26, Combs pushed back against Joi Dickerson-Deal’s accusations and requested the court to dismiss some of the claims that were not under the law when the alleged incident occurred.

Last year, Dickerson-Deal filed a motion against the music mogul and claimed Combs “intentionally drugged” her and sexually assaulted her in 1991 when she was a 19-year-old college student, per New York Post.
The woman claimed that following a date in Harlem, Combs “intentionally drugged” her and brought her home where he did the said misconduct.
In his Friday’s countermotion, the 54-year-old rapper’s attorneys claimed Combs cannot be sued as certain laws weren’t in existence when the alleged incident took place.
Citing those laws didn’t exist back then, the lawyers requested certain statutes from Dickerson-Deal’s motion including revenge porn and human trafficking to be dismissed with prejudice.
In her filing, Dickerson-Deal further claimed that after taking her home, the ‘Last Night’ rapper allegedly recorded the assault and shared it with several of his industry friends.
Combs denied the alleged victim’s claims as his attorneys accused Dickerson-Deal of exploiting the New York law that temporarily extended the statute of limitations.
They further added that Dickerson-Deal made the accusations more than thirty years after the alleged incident after the New York State Revenge Porn Law was codified in 2019. The attorneys also referred to New York Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Law, and claimed it wasn’t codified until 2007.
The latest developments and Combs’ counter-motion bring attention back to the FBI raids of Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami last month in connection to sex trafficking.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs was accused by his former girlfriend
This is not the first instance where the ‘Coming Home’ singer is accused of sexual misconduct. Last year, the music producer’s longtime girlfriend and R&B singer Casandra "Cassie" Ventura accused the rapper of an abusive relationship that included beatings and rape.
Per Fox, the songstress accused Combs brought her into his "ostentatious, fast-paced, and drug-fueled lifestyle" when she met him in 2005 when she was just 19.
She also accused him of sexual abuse, which Combs labeled as lies. The duo settled the case a day after it was filed.
