LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Selena Gomez might have been best friends with Taylor Swift at one time, but the pair is allegedly not spending as much time together as they used to, with Selena often made to feel like an “outsider.”

Sources close to the ‘Wizards of the Waverly Place’ alum said it is partly because Selena has “matured” and no longer desires to be around Swift’s squad of girl pals, per Daily Mail.

Swift, on the other hand, is known for her glam squad, including stars like Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, Sophie Turner, Zoe Kravitz, Ice Spice and Brittany Mahomes. However, Selena, 32, who was often a staple by Swift’s side during her parties, seems to frequent the outings less.

Selena Gomez does not ‘desire’ to be around Taylor Swift’s girl squad

Sources close to the ‘Rare Beauty’ founder recently shared with Daily Mail that Selena Gomez is often like an “outsider,” thus explaining the reason behind the lack of their recent public photos together. Selena and Taylor Swift were last photographed together in January.

The insider dished, “Selena feels like she has matured out of Taylor’s circle of friends,” before revealing, “She has no desire to be out with Blake, or Ice Spice, or Brittany or really any of those girls.”

“In a lot of ways, she feels like an outsider now. She is not a cheerleader and never wanted to be,” noted the source.

In fact, in February, the singer hinted that she was hurt to miss out on the group’s outing at the Super Bowl when she commented with a sad tearful emoji and a black heart under a snap of Swift along with her pals from her box.

However, the source noted that there is another issue at play as well. Since both the singers are now busy in their growing romances with their respective partners, distance has crept in between the two.

While Swift is balancing her romance with her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce in the middle of her globe-trotting Eras Tour, Selena is busy with her romance with fellow musician Benny Blanco and her own projects.

“They are each focused on their careers and their relationships. Ultimately, they are both happy for each other that they are both in love at the same time,” shared the source.

The insider added, “They know that double dates are out of the question because their men would literally have nothing at all to talk about.”

Internet sides with Selena Gomez for her alleged stance

Selena Gomez's fans on the internet seemed to admire her decision as they supported the 'Rare Beauty' founder stance. They even applauded her for setting her priorities straight by focusing on her own relationship and life.

One of the readers commented online, "Honestly, it’s a fact of life. Most of us good through this. You literally have to mourn the loss of friendships. Some people are only in your life for a season as cheesy and cliche as that sounds."

Someone else said, "This is life. Friends grow apart as they get older, get new interests, get new friends, etc. I’m sure they still have love and respect for eachother, but friends not being as close is not a new concept."

"I think the average friendship lasts about seven years; relationships can also wax and wane. People can grow apart with positive feelings about each other and group dynamics can be tricky," noted another fan sagely.

Meanwhile, someone else commented, "It was noted before that Taylor wasn't popular while at school, so having a girl squad seems to be like she's living out some unfilled dream. But she remains in this revolving door, where past friends have opted to grow up and move on."

Another fan of Selena praised her decision, saying, "I’d take that as a compliment. Swift’s ‘squad’ act like school mean girls, which is a bit strsnge being as they’re middle-aged!"

"The fact that Selena Gomez has “matured” says it all…good on Gomez! She always seems so sweet and genuine…," gushed another social media user.

Someone else noted, "Selena has matured out of that type of relationship. Good for her. She has her priorities straight."

"How exhausting. Gomez has Lupus. She doesn’t need high school girl drama in her 30’s," said another fan while siding with the Disney alum.
