MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Republican from Tennessee, ramped up her demands to speak with Kimberly Cheatle, the director of the US Secret Service, regarding the assassination attempt on the former President Donald Trump.

"Director Cheatle can run, but she can’t hide. If she has time to sweet-talk folks in a luxury suite at the RNC, she has time to answer how the Secret Service’s failures resulted in President Trump’s near-assassination," Blackburn told Fox News on Thursday, July 18.

"The last thing she should be doing is celebrating herself while rank-and-file agents are working around the clock to provide security in Milwaukee," the senator added.

Barrasso can be heard calling Cheatle out for "stonewalling" as she moves through the convention center. "This was an assassination attempt, you owe the people answers, you owe President Trump answers," Blackburn said.

Kimberly Cheatle was watching speakers at the RNC from a luxury box before Ohio Senator JD Vance gave his first speech as Donald Trump's running mate.

In another clip, the lawmakers were seen shouting at the Secret Service chief, with Cheatle responding, "I don’t think that this is the forum to have this discussion."

Kimberly Cheatle refused to step down as USSS director amid calls for answers

Kimberly Cheatle has declined to resign amid demands for clarification on how a gunman was able to open fire on Donald Trump and rally attendees in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

"Continuity of operations is paramount during a critical incident and U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has no intentions to step down," Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said.

"She deeply respects members of Congress and is fiercely committed to transparency in leading the Secret Service through the internal investigation and strengthening the agency through lessons learned in these important internal and external reviews," he continued.

Donald Trump's right ear was covered in blood following the attack

At the beginning of Donald Trump's Saturday campaign rally, there was gunfire. With a sudden motion, Trump grabbed his right ear, ducked, and struck the stage floor. The former president was swiftly surrounded by Secret Service agents before they dragged him off the stage, his right ear gushing blood.

Trump repeatedly yelled, "Fight!" and gave the crowd a fist pump to show that he was fine before being led out.

Donald Trump's shooter was identified as 20-year-old Pennsylvania man

Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Pennsylvania, was named as the gunman.

He killed 50-year-old father Corey Comperatore and injured two rally attendees in addition to injuring Trump.

Concerns over the attack have grown, and conservative lawmakers are pressing Cheatle to step down over the security lapse.

"How could this have occurred? This close to the death of a former president, we didn’t get any kind of satisfaction. Time for the head of the Secret Service to go," Barrasso said.
