WASHINGTON, DC: Notable ally and prospective running mate of former President Donald Trump, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, is promoting himself as the presumed Republican nominee for president.

Top Republicans and super donors who haven't committed to Trump's presidential campaign are expected to attend the one-day summit on Wednesday, June 19, which is being organized by Scott, a highly well-liked figure in the GOP despite his failed bid for the 2024 nomination.

Sen Tim Scott helped organize a major fundraiser for Donald Trump earlier this year

The entire afternoon and evening event of Great Opportunity Policy, a non-profit organization aligned with Scott that backs his political and policy agendas, will also serve as a fundraiser for Trump as he moves into the closing stages of his running mate search.

The senator was present at a high-end Trump fundraiser in New York City last month, and he assisted in planning a sizable fundraiser for the former president earlier this year, just before the South Carolina primary, per Fox News.

Furthermore, Scott, the sole Black Republican in the Senate, initiated a $14 million campaign earlier this month to assist the former president in winning over Black and other non-White working-class voters, whom Scott believes could be the decisive element in November's elections.

Sen Tim Scott is set to make Donald Trump's case to many top donors and billionaires

On Wednesday, Scott will be making the case for Trump to several top donors and billionaires, including Ken Griffin and Bill Ackman.

Griffin is the founder of the Citadel hedge fund, spent tens of millions during the 2024 Republican primaries in support of Trump's rivals.

Ackman, hedge fund executive of Pershing Square Capital, helped finance the campaigns of GOP presidential contender Nikki Haley and Democrat-turned-independent Robert F Kennedy Jr and also supported GOP candidates former New Jersey Gov Chris Christie, North Dakota Gov Doug Burgum and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

Sen Tim Scott's message to top donors who are yet to fully commit to Donald Trump

When asked what his message is to top donors who are yet to fully commit to the former president, Scott told Fox News last month that "it is in the best interest of the United States of America to have four more years of President Donald Trump. It is in the best interest of our economy to have four more years of Donald Trump." 

He added, "The one thing you can discern as a top donor and Republican and, frankly, a strong business person is that a strong economy makes all things possible."

Sen Tim Scott has strong ties with many leading figures in the GOP donor class

The senator maintains close relationships with numerous prominent members of the GOP donor class. He was well-known for his strong fundraising efforts as he easily won reelection in 2022. The funds collected two years prior were used as a down payment for his national campaign in 2024.

Scott, who was one of roughly a dozen Republican candidates who unsuccessfully challenged Trump for the GOP presidential nomination before ending his White House bid late last year, endorsed the former president in January.

With just a handful of candidates on the shortlist to be Trump's running mate on the Republican ticket in 2024, the conservative senator from South Carolina has emerged as one of the most prominent Trump surrogates in the last five months.

Internet slams Sen Tim Scott for promoting himself as Donald Trump's potential VP

Netizens gave their opinions after the South Carolina senator pushed himself as the supposed Republican nominee for president.

One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "We don’t want this guy." Another commented, "MAGA is gonna get stuck with Tim Scott and it's gonna be hilarious." 

"Trumps VP pick will surprise everyone. Trump yes wants someone to bring the bacon home but wants someone that is 100 percent in alignment with him that will defend him and all of the American People. this is not a job for a pretty face but for someone who is qualified to deliver," opined one.

"Tim Scott went along with the J6 hoax…hell to the no as VP," added one user.
