WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic Rep Seth Moulton claimed that President Joe Biden did not recognize him at a recent event in France reiterating his calls for the octogenarian to exit the 2024 race.

In an op-ed in Boston Globe published on July 19, the Massachusetts lawmaker emphasized why Biden, who is a longtime "mentor and friend," should end his reelection bid, echoing dozens of his colleagues who made similar demands after the president's disastrous debate performance last month.

“More recently, I saw him in a small group at Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day,” Moulton wrote, referring to Biden's visit to France last month. “For the first time, he didn’t seem to recognize me,” he said. He said that such things could happen at one age, but the debate indicated that what he witnessed in Normandy was a "deeper problem."

Seth Moulton reiterates call for Joe Biden to 'bow out' of 2024 race

Seth Moulton, the third Democrat to urge the 81-year-old to step aside following George Washington's path to give way for a new leadership shortly after the June 27 presidential debate, repeated his demand.

“The president should bow out of the race,” he wrote. “The harsh reality is that all the characteristics that have made Biden an irrepressible force — the energy, the vitality, the sharp, scrappy wit — are flickering," he said.

Certain moments, like Biden searching for a chair while others, including French President Emmanuel Macron, stood during the June 6 D-Day commemoration in France and him looking lost after shaking the hands of his French counterpart, were viral on social media platforms.

Amid heightening calls for his exit, citing the cognitive decline, the president stood adamant about continuing, stating in a recent ABC News interview that only "Lord Almighty's" intervention could stop him from running against former President Donald Trump. However, his confidence seemed toned down when he indicated the possibility of quitting in the event of a "medical condition" during his latest sit down with BET News host Ed Gordon.

Further into his ope-ed, Moulton called for the Democrats to consider the predicament as an "opportunity" for the party to respond to the increasing number of Americans against a repeat of the 2020 match. The Democrat concluded by demanding Biden to maintain his "legacy" that he attained for a "lifetime of service."

Internet trolls Seth Moulton as he says Joe Biden did not 'recognize' him at event

Social media users bombarded Moulton with brutal mockery for saying Biden did not recognize him during last month's D-Day commemoration event in France. Many pointed out that the lawmaker was not a memorable person.

"@sethmoulton to be fair I’m one of your constituents and I would never recognize you in public. Mostly because you’re a nobody," a user said.

"To be fair, Rep. Moulton isn't all that memorable," another remarked.

"To be fair, most no one recognizes Seth Moulton," read a fourth response.

"'Known' this low level house rep who has never led anything... this dude thinks far too much of himself," another person wrote.

"No one knows who Seth Moulton is. This is not evidence of Biden's decline, it is evidence of a self important nobody," an individual added.

"This may be more a reflection of Moulton’s ego than anything - Biden was dealing with hundreds of top level people during that event, and probably had little time for House members," someone else chimed in.
