LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Shakira has taken a dig at her ex-partner Gerard Pique by comparing him to 'Voldemort', a negative character from the ‘Harry Potter’ series.

The ‘Queen of Latin Music’ and the footballer had been together for over a decade before announcing their split in June 2022. They share two sons — Milan, 11, and nine-year-old Sasha.

However, it seems Shakira is still hurting since as per a report by Daily Mail, her new album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ will include a song slamming the 37-year-old Pique.

She also reportedly said about him, “Voldemort, that one that shouldn’t be mentioned? It’s hopefully the last song that I will write about this, and to him.”

The ‘Waka Waka’ hitmaker continued, “I felt that there was still something there, stuck in my throat, and I needed to get it out.”

“I played it to the marketing head at Sony and he started crying. I’d never seen a man cry in my studio before,” she added.

Shakira says she ‘sacrificed’ many things for Gerard Pique

This came as the mother-of-two in an interview recently opened up about her heartbreak.

She said, as per PEOPLE, “For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football. There was a lot of sacrifice for love.”

Earlier in 2023, the ‘Hips Don't Lie’ singer reportedly shared, “My priority was my home, my family. I believed in ‘till death do us part.’ I believed that dream, and I had that dream for myself, for my children.”

She went on to reveal, “My parents have been together, I don’t know, 50 years, and they love each other like the first day, with a love that’s unique and unrepeatable. So I know it’s possible.”

“It’s what I wanted for myself and my children, but it didn’t happen. If life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade. That’s what I’m doing: making lemonade,” Shakira asserted.

Internet reacts

Meanwhile, people on the internet have showered Shakira with love and support as a Facebook user commented, “It’s really time to move forward, he never married you and he left you for someone else.”

Another user said, “Never give up your career for a man….you lose too much in return, while he continues his journey…Not fair for Shakira bcoz they still split!”

“Never give up your dreams for a guy!!” a third one remarked.

A fourth user stated, “Moral of the story: NEVER put anything on hold for a man!!”

“Feeling for her. Us women are always the ones to give up on things to keep everyone and everything safe. Unfortunately, some men don't appreciate good women,” a fifth one added.
