Safety issues lead to Shakira's concert postponement

Event organizers reported that the concert at Medellin’s Atanasio Girardot Stadium was canceled due to concerns over the venue’s roof.

According to Billboard, concert promoter Paramo Presenta revealed that during the setup process, the roof suffered damage that posed a risk to the artist, her crew, and attendees.

“The promoter and the artist’s team are working together and hope to reschedule the date in the future,” the statement read.

“We understand that this decision may be frustrating for fans eagerly anticipating the show, but safety is our top priority,” the statement added.

Shakira’s response to fans

Addressing her fans in a February 23 post on X, Shakira expressed her disappointment, “My people from Medellin! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to.”

She also shared that her two sons, Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, were with her in Colombia and had been looking forward to the experience.

“I’m sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled. It’s out of my hands and those of my production team, but I’m sure we’ll soon find a new date to celebrate together,” said the singer.

Promoter Paramo Presenta confirmed that new Colombia tour dates are being planned for the latter half of 2025, with more than one city in the country set to host the singer.

“Together with Shakira’s team, we are working on new concerts for Colombia in the second half of this year, news that will be celebrated in more than one city in the country,” the company wrote on X.

The latest postponement follows Shakira’s previous concert cancellation in Peru on February 16 due to an abdominal issue.

The 47-year-old singer was hospitalized on February 15 and later shared on social media, “I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized.”

Doctors advised her against performing at the National Stadium of Peru, leading to the show’s cancellation.

“I had been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans in Peru,” Shakira wrote, adding that her team was working to reschedule the date.

Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour began on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro and continues despite the setbacks.
