Jonathan Owens claims he wasn't aware of wife Simone Biles' fame
During a joint appearance on 'The Pivot' podcast, Owens told the story of connecting with Biles on the dating app Raya in 2020.
He confessed, "I'm like, 'Lemme see who this is.' I never really paid attention to gymnastics. So it piqued my curiosity."
The 28-year-old tried to explain how he was oblivious to the 26-year-old's elite status and trailblazing career, saying, "When she won the Olympics, I was in college, and we didn’t have NBC, we didn’t have Olympics channels, and we were in [training] camp in late July, early August."

He added, "So I’m not paying attention. I never had a moment where I would have watched [her perform]."
Owens further noted, "I didn't know who she was at the time. But the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers. So in my mind I'm like, 'OK, she’s got to be good'."
Once connected, things moved quickly for the pair as the NFL player elaborated, "She messaged me Tuesday, and then we were texting back and forth, and then we hung out Friday."
He continued, "We couldn’t do much because COVID happened and everything was shut down. So she came down to Houston, about 45 minutes to me. Then the rest is history."

A post on X (formerly Twitter) by @DaOtterside highlighted this contrast, stating, "Important Life Lesson. Get you a man that talks about you the way Travis Kelce speaks about Taylor Swift, not how Jonathan Owens spoke about Simone Biles. She deserves better."
One commented, "One is a real man, and the other is Jonathan Owens," while another expressed, "Oh stop! Travis speaks facts and love about Taylor. I'm embarrassed for Simone."
"Even though Owen’s was joking, I don’t want to be 'joked' about like that by my own husband. I expect better," remarked a concerned person.
One more stated, "No need to compare because that Jonathan by himself is the example of men jealous of their wives' success."
"Patrick’s interview this morning was another good example and he was just talking about his friend’s girlfriend," pointed out another, highlighting Patrick Mahomes' CBS Mornings interview.
