LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle will not return as a full-time cast member of the upcoming spin-off of the hit series ‘Suits’.

Rachael Harris, the Duchess of Sussex’s former ‘Suits’ co-star and a close friend to the showrunner Aaron Korsh, recently revealed to The Mirror that the new spinoff series will not include the character previously portrayed by Markle.

Rachael Harris revealed that old cast members won't be back

Harris played the character of Sheila Sazs, Louis Litt's on-and-off girlfriend for several seasons in the uber-popular legal drama.

Recently the actress attended the 11th Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS) Awards in Beverly Hills, when she spoke out regarding the future of ‘Suits’ on camera.

As Harris was asked about the future of the previous cast members of ‘Suits’ including Markle, she replied, "Well, this is the thing -the only thing I know the truth is, is that Aaron Korsh who created the original Suits I know personally: and of course when I got wind that they were doing a Suits LA I was like, okay, so when am I working? And he was very clear with me that no one from the previous cast is going to be in Suits LA."

She explained that the latest season of ‘Suits’ is based in the west coast and is named ‘Suits LA’.

Harris, however, shared that while their return as full-time cast members may not be in cards, they still have the chance to appear for cameo appearances.

Referring to Korsh’s vision, she explained, "He didn't say that there couldn't be a crossover or there couldn't be a cameo appearance from one of us at some point.”

However, she pointed out the showrunner’s vision to establish ‘Suits LA’ as its “own entity”, free from the shadows of its popular predecessor.

Harris shared, “But he said this is its own entity. Much like all the CSIs and all the Bruckheimers, right? Where they have CSI, Vegas, Los Angeles, on the moon everywhere.”

“So I feel confident that they want this to soar on its own without any of the original cast,” continued Harris before assuring her fans, “That doesn't mean that we won't pop in."

Harris further mentioned during the interview that Korsh has not mentioned anything about Markle’s probable future involvement in the series.

‘The Lucifer’ star continued, “He has not said anything to me about Megan popping in,” before adding, “We don't talk about the Duchess. It's rude. She has enough going on. You know what I mean? Let's leave her alone for God's sake. Right.”

Patrick Adams joked about 'Suits' spinoff

Following the inclusion of 'Suits' on Netflix in June 2023, the show that ran successfully from 2011 to 2019, witnessed a resurgence in its popularity. The show's cast members including Patrick J Adams, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty and Gabriel Macht had a mini reunion during the Golden Globes as well.

During the red carpet of Golden Globes, as Adams was asked about the upcoming show, he replied, “We found out about — well, it’s not a revival — but a ‘Suits’ spinoff. I think it’s all in early stages. But what did they say? It’s a show in the ‘Suits’ universe. Like a ‘Suits LA.'”

Referring to Korsh, he further added, “Anyway, our fearless showrunner Aaron’s working on that. And if we got the phone call, if I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again. "

He declared his unwavering love for the show and said, "I love the show, I love the character. And I loved working with all these people.” While he claimed that the producers “didn’t tell us anything” about the new series, he admitted it would be a “completely separate world within the ‘Suits’ world.”

He even went on to joke about Markle's return to the potential 'Suits' spin-off. As he was asked whether the mother-of-two would ever join the series, he joked, “Sure. Mike and Rachel in Seattle. They gotta come down to LA, they gotta fix some stuff," per New York Post.

He continued, “She’s pretty popular right now,” before quipping, “Did you hear about Meghan? I’ll tell you later."

While Adams played Mike Ross in the show, Markle played the paralegal Rachel Zane in the 'Suits'. Markle left the show in 2018 prior to her royal wedding with Prince Harry of Britain.
