NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene sat with Speaker Mike Johnson for almost an hour-long meeting which did not yield any positive result in terms of uniting a divided House GOP, on Wednesday, April 10.

According to CBS News, the Congresswoman from Georgia has refused to drop her threat of forcing a vote seeking to oust Johnson from his position of House Speaker.

Greene filed a motion for the removal of the Speaker last month after he allowed a two-part omnibus spending bill worth $1.2 trillion to pass last month, in order to avert a partial government shutdown.

She has since openly criticized the Speaker on various media platforms, and sent a strongly worded letter to her Republican colleagues claiming that the latter has failed to live up to his promises by negotiating with Democrats and breaking procedural rules to pass major legislation.

After sitting down with Johnson for the first time since filing the resolution to oust him, Greene told reporters, "I got a lot of excuses ... We didn't walk out with a deal."

However, she did describe the meeting as "direct" and "passionate," adding that she would be "watching what happens" on Ukraine funding and FISA reauthorization. "I did not give him a red line," she stated.

Johnson is said to have floated the proposal of an advisory "kitchen Cabinet group" for himself and asked Greene if she wanted to be a part of it.

"I'll wait and see what his proposal is on that," she said. "Right now, he does not have my support."

Before meeting with the Congresswoman, Johnson had warned at his weekly news conference that "it would be chaos in the House" if she decided to move forward on the vote.

Internet reacts to meeting

Netizens trolled MTG and House GOP over the disarray in response to news of the meeting between Greene and Johnson, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"She needs to get her act together! It’s not just about Trump at all," stated another.

"She has proven time and time again. She's only there to do trumps bidding," noted a third.

"She's a disgrace," jibed a fourth.

"Shocked that they wasted time on this meeting. She's a waste of time," commented a fifth.

"She’s a waste of space. Well, Mike Johnson is too 😆😆" chided a sixth user.
