The 62-year-old singer also shared that he went on to get help from the Canadian singer-songwriter because “she's the only other one I've known that's ever had this surgery, with this doctor, and the only reason I found that out is because she reported it in the press.”

The  ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ hitmaker revealed, “Not only did she reassure me that it would be OK, but I think she also pulled my leg a little bit because she told me I'd be out there a lot sooner than I have been.”

But his wife of over three decades, Dorothea Hurley reportedly told him that his performance “wasn't great, and I’ve seen you be great" and led him to seek medical help.

The guitarist said Hurley's words were “beyond heartbreaking, it was devastating but there’s no one better than her to tell me the truth.”

“If it were going to be over, I just had to wrap my arms around that and say, ‘I've had an incredible career. It doesn't mean I can't write you a song tomorrow, just means I won't be doing a hundred-show tour,’” he added.
