MIAMI, FLORIDA: A Florida woman was accused of abandoning her 3-year-old fraternal twin children in the back seat of a car on top of an interstate overpass before attempting to take her own life on Friday, February 2, 2024, by jumping onto the train tracks.

Recent court documents revealed that Shirlene Alcime attempted to give her children one last enjoyable day by taking them to McDonald's and Chuck E Cheese in the hours leading up to their tragic deaths, Law and Crime reported.

In the aftermath of the twin children's deaths, Alcime currently faces two counts of child neglect. However, authorities have hinted at the possibility of additional charges, including murder, pending completion of the preliminary investigation.

The authorities are still awaiting the results of the toxicology screenings of the children. Alcime has not yet entered a plea regarding the charges.

Detective Malia Carson recounts Shirlene Alcime’s statement at court hearing

Miami-Dade Police Detective Malia Carson made an appearance in court on Wednesday, March 6 for a pretrial bond hearing, where she recounted her unsettling interactions with the mother Shirlene Alcime of the deceased twins, Milendhet and Milendhere Napoleon-Cadet, and spoke about the mother's suicide attempt.

Carson testified that upon arriving at the scene, they discovered the mother, Alcime, on the train tracks beneath the interstate overpass from which she had jumped.

Describing the scene, Carson stated that Alcime was "moaning and crawling" on the tracks

During her testimony, Carson revealed that Alcime allegedly expressed distress over her family's dire financial situation, fearing homelessness if her children were left alone with their father.

Alcime reportedly conveyed that she took her children to McDonald's and Chuck E Cheese so that they could have a good day. She then purportedly stated that she put the children in the car and began driving aimlessly.

Carson also noted that Alcime was unable to explain why her twins were found foaming at their mouths before their deaths.

Although Alcime couldn't attend the hearing due to being hospitalized, Judge Ellen Venzer ruled that she should remain in custody, citing a potential danger to the community. Venzer declared during the hearing, "The appropriate bond is no bond."

Alcime’s court appearance is scheduled for March 19, 2024

News.meaww previously reported that Shirlene Alcime was arrested because she planned to hurt herself and her twin children. She was having money problems and was facing eviction. She also owed money for her businesses in South Florida.

The police said she thought about hurting her children in different ways, like throwing them off a ramp. Eventually, she left them in her car while she jumped off. Before she jumped, a tow truck driver asked if she needed help, but she said that her children weren't moving in the car.

The driver tried to help her son with CPR, but then the police came, and she jumped. Her children were found foaming at the mouth and were taken to the hospital, but they didn't survive.

When investigators asked her what happened, she said she didn't know. Milson Cadet, the children's father, was very upset and wanted to know what happened. He believed justice would prevail and wanted to know the truth.
