LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The son of WWE icon Sid Vicious, whose real name was Sid Eudy, has shared new details regarding his father's health struggles before to his death on Monday, August 26, at the age of 63.

Gunnar Eudy announced on Facebook that his father had been diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in April 2021, five years after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

“Although he never told anyone about his fight against cancer, Sid lived his life to the fullest, attending the gym, boxing classes, making appearances for his fans, and of course t-ball games for the kids,” Gunnar wrote, according to New York Post. “He passed away peacefully in his bed, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination. I’ve never met anyone with a fraction of the strength as my father he truly was one of a kind," he added.

He continued, “Thanks everyone for the uplifting words and love we definitely feel it we have received thousands of messages and are grateful for everyone of them. I don’t have time to reply but I have read them all thank you thank you thank you!”



 

Sid Vicious' iconic wrestling career

Sid Vicious, also known as Sid Justice and Sycho Sid, was a well-known member of Ric Flair's renowned Four Horsemen team and a star for the WWF and WCW in the 1990s, capturing two world championships for each organization. He competed in the WrestleMania 8 main event, losing to Hulk Hogan, and in the WrestleMania 13 main event, losing the world title to The Undertaker.

Despite being viewed as a villain at the time, Eudy's victory over Shawn Michaels for the WWF title in the main event of Survivor Series 1996 at Madison Square Garden was one of his most memorable moments.

“Saddened to learn of the passing of Sid Eudy,” Michaels wrote on X Monday, August 26. “An unforgettable presence, and it can’t be overstated how big of a role he played in creating ‘The Heartbreak Kid.’ His work, legacy, and influence will inspire our business for generations to come,” he added.



 

Triple H pays tribute to Sid Vicious

On X, Triple H, a former professional wrestler and current chief creative officer for WWE, also gave homage to Sid Vicious.

“The Master and Ruler of the World. Few performers in the history of our business have had the look, intensity and ability to connect with the audience quite like Sid,” he wrote, adding “My thoughts are with Sid’s family, friends and fans.”
