WASHINGTON, DC: Former advisor to Hillary and Bill Clinton, Sidney Blumenthal, jokingly suggested President Joe Biden test the boundaries of the Supreme Court's July 1 landmark ruling on presidential immunity by arresting members of the opposing party.

This ruling has also sparked a heated debate about the powers the President has and how he can get away with it.

Sidney Blumenthal's writes in Joe Biden's voice about exploiting SCOTUS' immunity ruling

Sidney Blumenthal wrote in the voice of Joe Biden according to an article he wrote in The New Republic.

"I have read the court's majority opinion that an official act of the president is 'presumptively' immune from all prosecution during and after his term, and that the president's motive cannot be questioned," Blumenthal wrote.

"I am taking the court's opinion to heart. I am not one to defy the court. I am, as many have remarked, an institutionalist," the former advisor added.

With that said, Blumenthal, still speaking for Biden, wrote, "I regret to inform you that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has been arrested. A number of other members of the House Republican Conference have been taken into custody," he further wrote, per Raw Story.

"Jim Jordan, unfortunately, attempted to resist arrest. After wrestling with an FBI agent, he met a tragic fate," for which he added, "we can all give thanks to the Supreme Court."

Sidney Blumenthal jokes Joe Biden to prosecute Chief Justice John Roberts for his past 'treasonous comment'

Sidney Blumenthal continued that Joe Biden should have Chief Justice John Roberts "for his treasonous comment that the president is doing something illegal, based on his very own opinion."

He joked that Biden would be expanding the court and would wait to prosecute Roberts "after the new 26 members take their posts."

Moreover, "More reform is on the way. The Twenty-Second Amendment prohibiting the president from holding more than two terms will be replaced by the Twenty-Eighth Amendment, which rescinds it."

"If any reader of this column can show where anything described here would be illegal under the Supreme Court immunity ruling, please turn yourself into the nearest FBI bureau to avoid yet another tragic result," he continued before dryly pointing out, "what goes around comes around."

Internet reactions and calls for Biden to use immunity

Netizens reacted with a mix of humor and seriousness, with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing, "He better use his immunity! SCOTUS gave it to him." Another user added, "He absolutely must & should."

One wrote, "That's right. Declassify all the files, out them."

Another suggested, "Biden should use his official acts immunity, commander of national defense, and take care clause to enforce the 14th Amendment ban against insurrectionists holding office."

One user wrote, "Hahahaaaaaaaaaaaa. That SCOTUS ruling is ONLY and ONLY for GOP. Democrats are excluded or naive to use it."

Another user wrote, "He should tell the republicans to kick rock since their republicans Justice gave the President the power to be king."
