Clinton's comments came amid growing concerns among Democrats about Biden's shaky performance and calls for him to step aside.
Bill Clinton says Joe Biden has ‘given us three years of solid leadership’
Clinton's defense of Biden focused on the president's track record and achievements over the past three years.
He highlighted Biden's leadership through the pandemic, job creation, progress on climate change, and efforts to reduce inflation.
“I’ll leave the debate rating to the pundits, but here’s what I know: facts and history matter," Clinton posted on social media platform X.
"Joe Biden has given us 3 years of solid leadership, steadying us after the pandemic, creating a record number of new jobs, making real progress solving the climate crisis, and launching a successful effort in reducing inflation, all while pulling us out of the quagmire Donald Trump left us in,” he added.

“That’s what’s really at stake in November,” Clinton further said.
Biden’s debate performance sparked fear and panic among Democrats. Some called for him to step aside and allow someone else to run against former President Donald Trump.
The White House and Biden’s campaign have slammed these requests, signaling that Biden is in it for the long haul.
Joe Biden makes bid to ‘get back up’ post debate debacle
The president held a campaign stop in North Carolina on Friday, June 28, where he sought to calm the panic among people. While in Raleigh, he said he is a politician who knows how to “get back up” after he’s been “knocked down," The Hill noted.
Vice President Kamala Harris also defended Biden’s performance during a CNN interview immediately following the debate. She admitted the president had a “slow start,” but said it was a “strong finish.”
Former President Barack Obama defended his former vice president, urging voters to pick Biden this fall despite the rough debate performance.
“Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know,” Obama posted on X. “But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself," he added.
