PARIS, FRANCE: Simone Biles’ mother is proud to witness a historic performance from the athlete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Talking about her incredible feat with four medals in this edition, Nellie Biles said the 2021 Tokyo Olympics had a major impact on her performance.

“Tokyo was a little different, but as a family, we all sit back and we talk about Tokyo, and [the] reason for everything, and Tokyo happened the way it did,” Nellie told People

"If Tokyo didn't happen the way it did, there probably would not have been a Paris.”

The mother added, “It's just been an unbelievable week. I know we came here with our own expectations. The expectation was, we do want her to medal, but not putting any stipulations on what medals that she will get.”

“I think she is sending the message that yes, you can be in a bad place. All of us can be in a bad place, but then if you work at it, and you work through things, you can succeed at doing things and doing the things that you enjoy, doing the things that you like, but the number one message is to take care of yourself.”

Before adding, “Mental health is so, so important — [Simone] is back doing the things that she loves, but she is in a definitely better place.”
