Simone Biles’ mother trolls Snoop Dogg
During the interview, Nellie shared about the time when she and her daughter were waiting for the 52-year-old rapper. But the experience turned out to be something different altogether as they got snubbed by Snoop Dogg.
Recalling the time from 2010, Nellie said, “I will never forget that we met you in Times Square. 2010.”
“And you said—'cause we asked for a picture—two minutes. One, two, and you were gone [laughs],” added Nellie.
As the ‘Gin and Juice’ rapper laughed at the gaffe, Kotb swiftly changed the subject, per Daily Mail.
Snoop Dogg was the Olympic torchbearer
Snoop Dogg, who has been commenting on the 2024 Olympics, also served as a torchbearer for the opening ceremony, per HotNewHipHop.
Elsewhere in the episode, he recalled the time when he saw American boxer Muhammad Ali serving the same role in 1996 and compared it with his own act.
The rapper said, “It was emotional for all of us to see the champ holding that torch and walking up there.”
He commented, “This is my own version of it. I don’t want to get too emotional, but I know that this is special. This says a lot about America as far as where we’re at in this world […] I would have never dreamed of nothing like this.”
Internet reacts to Nellie Biles' trolling
The internet had a lot to say about Simone Biles' mother commenting on the snubbing incident from 2010. While a chunk of the social media users commented on her getting snubbed, another group even criticized Snoop Dogg for his involvement in the Olympics despite not being an athlete himself.
One of the readers commented online, "Why did Hoda change the subject? Do celebrities have to be rescued when they are reminded of a time they were rude?"
Someone else added, "People will never forget how you made them feel, no matter who you are. He can always say he was high."
"Why do the Olympics seem rather debased compared to the old days. Hoda and Snoop doing the interviews and resentful moms grinding celebrity axes? Give me the days of Jim McKay running a proper show and just sticking to the sport," noted another disgruntled user.
Someone else said, "Why was Snoop just on NBC Olympics wearing the American Flag as a turban and a "scarf" of stars? What sport did he play, again?"
"They had to wait on Snoop Dogg? Who do these people think they are?" said someone else.
Another social media user quipped, "Mama Biles getting salty."
"Talk about harboring a grudge....," remarked someone else.
Another fan, however, said, "I don't understand why Snoop is doing interviews. He has never been an Olympian or a sports star.Mrs.Biles needs to keep her grudges out of the interviews. They are baseless and tasteless and embarrassing to both her daughter and Snoop."
