PARIS, FRANCE: Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, regained her gold-medal status in the women’s all-around gymnastics competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday, August 1.

With this win, Biles became the first American to win the Olympic all-around gold medal more than once.

Simone Biles is now the owner of six gold medals

On July 30, Simone Biles led Team USA to a gold medal in a team event.

Biles, 27, is now the owner of six Olympic gold medals and nine overall medals.

She has become the first gymnast to win two Olympic all-around championships nonconsecutively, according to NBC News. No American has won the Olympic all-around more than once, the report stated.

Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, who is considered to be Biles' strongest rival, won silver, finishing where she did in the Tokyo all-around competition.

In what was possibly the most competitive match of the day, American Suni Lee won the bronze, despite the fact that Biles and Andrade were heavily favored to finish on positions one and two.

Simone Biles' early lead followed by a mistake on uneven bars turned the competition tighter

Simone Biles jumped to an early lead with a 15.766 on the vault after sticking the difficult Yurchenko double pike, as per New York Post.

However, a mistake on the uneven bars in the second rotation turned her expected gold medal into a much harder competition as she fell behind Brazilian rival Rebeca Andrade.

Biles reclaimed the lead with an impressive balance beam rotation before securing the victory on the floor routine.
