Suni Lee throws shade at MyKayla Skinner after Simone Biles takes dig at former Team USA gymnast

PARIS, FRANCE: Suni Lee escalated the situation after Simone Biles responded to criticism from a former American Olympic athlete following the team's gold medal win at the Paris Olympics, according to Fox News.

Biles shared a collage of photos on Instagram depicting her and her teammates carrying the American flag to celebrate their gold medal victory in the team final.

"Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions," Biles wrote.

What prompted Simone Biles to go scorched earth on former American Olympic teammate?

Simone Biles’ snappy retort seemed to be a direct response to former American Olympic gymnast MyKayla Skinner's criticism of the current US gymnast team.

Skinner was a part of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics team and won a silver medal on the vault after replacing Biles, who had left the team due to the twisties.

Prior to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Skinner shared her opinion of the team, stating, "Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be. Just notice like, I mean, obviously a lot of girls don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic."

Skinner's comments were from a since-deleted YouTube video, and she issued an apology for her remarks earlier this month.

Biles mentioned that Skinner had blocked her on Instagram, which was confirmed by her teammate Jordan Chiles.

In the Instagram comments section, former artistic gymnast McKayla Maroney quipped, "It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She f’d around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name."

Suni Lee clapped back, writing, "Put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you."

Suni Lee now boasts four Olympic medals in her tally after bagging the women's artistic team all-around in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She previously secured gold in the all-around, silver in the team final, and bronze in the uneven bars at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
