'So embarrassing': Billy Ray Cyrus led off stage following 'trainwreck' performance at Trump inaugural ball

WASHINGTON, DC: Billy Ray Cyrus will probably take some time away from the stage after his jaw-dropping disaster of a performance at the Liberty Ball during President Donald Trump’s inauguration celebrations.

The night — meant to showcase country icons like Jason Aldean, Parker McCollum, and Rascal Flatts — quickly went south when the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer hit the stage.

Billy Ray's trainwreck performance sparks concern

The first warning sign was that Billy Ray wasn’t even bothering to lip-sync convincingly. During “Old Town Road", he wandered away from the mic as the track continued to play throughout the ballroom. When he did attempt to sing live, like during his acapella version of “Achy Breaky Heart", his voice sounded rather rough.

Technical issues plagued the set. At one point, a guitar tech came out to help fix whatever was going wrong, but it didn’t help. And just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, Billy Ray upped the awkwardness during his next song, “Some Gave All".

He placed the mic on the stand and walked around the dark stage waving, before eventually exiting without an explanation. Nobody knew if they cut his set short or if he was escorted off, but it was painfully awkward to watch, according to Whiskey Riff.

The internet wasted no time ripping into the trainwreck, with comments ranging from disbelief to genuine concern.

"Billy Ray Cyrus, clearly lip-syncing, looks like he crawled out from under a bridge before this weak performance at Donald Trump's inaugural Liberty Ball. So embarrassing," one posted on X.

"So I just watched the Billy Ray Cyrus performance, if you can call it that. I don't know what to say. Yikes. The guy needs an intervention," another wrote.

"Who signed off on Billy Ray Cyrus performing tonight? They should be fired immediately. This is awful," a third user added.

"Someone please stop him. @billyraycyrus if you need help, please get it. The last 4 years under Biden have been rough on all of us," someone else chimed in.

"That was a train wreck. Not making fun. From the bottom of all of our hearts, get help Billy Ray Cyrus. We love ya and your music," a comment read.

"Can Trump pardon Billy Ray Cyrus for this performance tonight? Wow," another quipped.

Billy Ray Cyrus' trouble off the stage

It's worth noting that Cyrus has been dealing with some personal drama of late — dealing with the fallout from his highly publicized divorce from Australian singer Firerose last year.

The divorce turned ugly, with both sides trading accusations of abuse. Leaked audio revealed Billy Ray cursing at Firerose, calling her a “selfish fing b***h,” while Firerose claimed he filed for divorce the day before she was scheduled for a preventative double mastectomy.

The country star didn’t mince words when addressing the audio, saying he was at his “wit’s end” and accusing Firerose of using his name for personal gain.

“This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of. Let alone the fact I’m right in the center and basically the target of the scheme,” he said when the divorce was finalized in August.

“It’s unfortunate it played out this way. Not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure.”
