Brittany Mahomes faces backlash over 'unpleasant' behavior toward restaurant staff she 'did not tip'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brittany Mahomes, 28, is under scrutiny after TikToker Jessica O'Connor accused her of being rude to restaurant staff and failing to tip during her stay at 1 Hotel in West Hollywood.
O'Connor claimed Mahomes, formerly known as Brittany Matthews, was wedding dress shopping for her upcoming marriage to Patrick Mahomes.
Brittany Mahomes faces criticism for alleged poor treatment of restaurant staff
In a viral TikTok video, O'Connor alleged that Mahomes ran up a tab of over $100 with her group but left a zero-dollar tip. Despite initially giving the benefit of the doubt, O'Connor claimed that Mahomes, accompanied by her posse, continued not to tip throughout their nearly one-week stay at the upscale hotel.
The TikToker, who had worked as a server and bartender, also criticized Mahomes for allegedly being "unpleasant."
Brittany Mahomes is seen with Taylor Swift these days a lot as they have been staples in the stands this football season, where they've been cheering on their favorite Kansas City Chiefs players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
She said, "I don't like her because she doesn't tip restaurant staff," O'Connor, who worked as a server and bartender, said in the video that was originally shared in November on TikTok.
"I believe Brittany was in town to shop for her wedding dress and my first interaction with her, she ran up over $100 [in a] tab. She was with her whole posse. Patrick was not there but I believe their tab was well over $100, maybe like $130 — zero dollar tip."
"That happens sometimes so I was willing to let the first one slide and I'm like, 'Maybe she just didn't like me, maybe it was something I said,'" But they were there for almost a week and did not tip a single one of our staff. And not only did she tip, she was just genuinely unpleasant."
O'Connor continued: "And I totally understand celebrities don't owe you anything, especially when you're out in public," As a public figure you should always go out thinking OK the people I interact with are clocking these interactions and are gonna remember this, and I will always remember that Brittany. I only judge people based off of their character and I think one of the easiest ways to judge someone's character is how they treat someone in a position lesser than them — and let's just say, character assessed."
The TikTok video has gained over a million views, with O'Connor expressing disappointment in Mahomes' behavior. She emphasized that while celebrities don't owe anything to the public, their character is often judged by how they treat individuals in less privileged positions.
O'Connor concluded that Mahomes' actions, if true, reflect on her character.
