'So unnecessary': Internet slams Britney Spears as pop icon claims she once made out with Ben Affleck

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The fact that Britney Spears claims she and Ben Affleck had a passionate encounter decades ago is one of the many untold recollections that were left out of her bombshell 2023 memoir, 'The Woman in Me'.

The 42-year-old pop sensation made the startling assertion in a now-deleted Instagram post, which featured a blurry old black-and-white photo of her with the 'Air' actor and singer Diane Warren that was taken "years ago."

Although the exact date of when the photo was captured is unknown, Affleck is said to have sported the same goatee in 1999. Britney turned 18 in December of that year, while he turned 27 in August 1999, as per Daily Mail.

Through the seemingly innocent Instagram post Spears revealed that the black and white picture was taken the same night she supposedly "made out" with Affleck. 

The pop star captioned the image, "Cool pic of me and Ben Affleck and Diane Warren years ago!!! He’s such an amazing actor."

Spears added, "Did I fail to mention I made out with Ben that night … I honestly forgot … damn that’s crazy!!! Wish I could tell you guys the story that happened before that!!! Oh dear, I’m just being a gossip girl."

Although the exact date of the night the "Princess of Pop" is alluding to remains unknown, a lot has certainly happened since then.

While the 'Toxic' singer married dancer Sam Asghari in 2022 and filed for divorce in 2023, Affleck is currently married to Jennifer Lopez.

The 'Gone Girl' actor has not yet commented on the "gossip," but if it is true it would be just one of several relationships that the singer has disclosed from her past.

Perhaps Spears' brief liaison with Affleck ended before she began dating Justin Timberlake that same year.

Although the pop icon had told Rolling Stone at the time that she had "no feelings at all" for the NSYNC member and was only focused on her work, the duo ignited romance rumors in the spring of 1999.

According to Spears' bombshell tell-all memoir, 'The Woman in Me', they broke up in 2003 as a result of allegations of infidelity on both sides and an abortion.

She also discussed her brief, high-profile romance with Irish actor Colin Farrell—which she dubbed a "two-week brawl."

Soon after Spears' post about making out with Affleck came to light, netizens took to social media to share their opinions regarding the revelation.  

 "Let’s not bring attention to this please," wrote one, while another snarked, "So unnecessary. She’s gonna come out with an apology post in 2 days and then delete. She’s an online bully."

A person stated, "So unecessary, I expect B-Army to stay on its place and try to avoid the fight cuz it was unecessary," while someone else noted, "Britney Spears forgot she made out with Ben Affleck ouch."

"Britney’s second book will be even more interesting!" quipped an individual. 

One more opined, "Ok Britney is asking for it. That’s all I’m saying….. I’m starstarting to believe some things about her mental capacity," and another person added, "Jeez there's no reason to disclose this information. Bats**t crazy."
