AUSTIN, TEXAS: Actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler's 10-year-old son Beau Dykstra, who she shares with her former baseball player husband Cutter Dykstra, has been released from the hospital after 33 days of treatment.
The eldest child of the 'Sopranos' star suffered a "nightmare" in the intensive care unit after receiving a diagnosis of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM).
Jamie-Lynn Sigler's son walks out of hospital after ICU 'nightmare'
Jamie-Lynn Sigler revealed in an August Instagram post that her son Beau Dykstra had been diagnosed with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis in July. She called the situation a "nightmare" in the post.
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a rare immunological neurological disorder that follows a viral infection.
However, Sigler announced on Instagram over the weekend that Beau was at last "busting out" of the hospital. She posted an adorable clip of her son strolling along a hospital hallway while supporters lined up on either side.
"After 33 days, we are busting out of here!" Sigler, 43, expressed her joy on Instagram on Friday, August 16.
The post included a video of Beau skipping joyfully and giving high fives as he passed a hallway surrounded by hospital staff members who were waving glowsticks in various colors.

The actor, who played Meadow, daughter of New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano on the HBO series 'The Sopranos', went on, "My brave boy, you are a walking miracle."
"The rest of this story will be Beau’s to tell, if he chooses to one day. Thank you to the INCREDIBLE staff at Dells Children’s," she continued.
Sigler continued, "The way you take care of your patients and the way you guide their families through the process, I just don’t have enough words. I’m in awe of your patience, dedication, and expertise ... But, no offense.. I hope we never see you again. Thank you all for the love and prayers. They worked."
The video ended with a picture of Beau facing the camera, pointing at himself while standing in front of a "Heroes This Way" sign.
What happened to Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s 10-year-old son Beau?
Jamie-Lynn Sigler—who has battled multiple sclerosis for years—revealed Beau's diagnosis at the 'MeSsy' podcast, which she cohosts with actress and fellow MS patient Christina Applegate, on August 2.
On August 6, Sigler declared on Instagram, "4 weeks ago, what seemed like a normal virus for our son, turned into a nightmare. Beau has what we believe to be, ADEM. To say this has been hard, is an understatement, and I’ve never felt more broken."
Sigler claimed on her podcast with Applegate that when Beau was taken to the hospital, he shouted that his head hurt and had a 105-degree fever.
Over the next few days, he visited the ER three times, but each time, tests were performed and he was sent home, per the New York Post.

However, when his symptoms worsened, Beau was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), where he eventually lost his ability to move his legs and talk.
The actress remarked on her podcast, "It was and has been like the darkest, hardest, most f** ked up thing I’ve ever been through."
Beau was finally moved out of the intensive care unit, but he was required to remain there until his most recent release.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, ADEM is an extremely rare neurological immunological reaction that children may occasionally receive from a straightforward virus.
The National Organization for Rare Disorders states that ADEM, which is characterized by extensive inflammation of the brain and spinal cord, can result in a wide range of neurological symptoms, including seizures, limb paralysis, eyesight loss, and mental state abnormalities.
