Kristi Noem slams 'ridiculous' hush money case against Trump, Internet calls her 'another MAGA distract'
PIERRE, SOUTH DAKOTA: South Dakota Gov Kristi Noem criticized the hush money case brought against former President Donald Trump, calling it "unprecedented" and "ridiculous," The Hill reported.
"It's the way that Democrats are fighting these days using the judicial system and activist judges to do so," said the Republican in an interview with CNN's 'State of the Union' on Sunday, April 21.
"My hope is that the people and the jury will do what is right and hear the evidence and see clearly that this is an unprecedented trial, but it's unprecedented in how ridiculous it is," added Noem, a top contender for Trump's vice presidential pick.
Trump made history by becoming the first POTUS, serving or former, to be tried in a criminal case. The hush money trial, which commenced on April 15, will move to opening arguments on April 22.
South Dakota Gov Kristi Noem argues the case is 'politically motivated'
Noem, a hardcore supporter of the GOP presumptive nominee, argued the prosecutors should have avoided coming up with the case amid an election year.
She asserted, "I think it's a little ridiculous that they've waited years to bring these types of charges against Donald Trump. You know, if they wanted to make these kinds of charges against him, they should have done it two years ago, when this happened."
"To do it conveniently during a presidential election when he's campaigning to return to the White House, I think, proves that this is all politically motivated," said Noem.

Trump and his supporters have often claimed that the case brought forward by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, should have been filed sooner if there was no political agenda behind it.
The real estate mogul, who is hoping to recapture the White House from his successor, Joe Biden, will have to spend about eight weeks in the Manhattan courtroom and step away from the campaign trail owing to the hush money trial.
Trump, who has denied any wrongdoing, faces 34 felony counts for falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election in exchange for her silence about their alleged affair.

"Saying exactly what TFG wants to hear so he will pick her as his running mate, no more and no less," noted an individual. Another person argued, "What’s ridiculous is Trump thinking he can break the law to hide an affair."
One more stated, "Maybe once you realize you are NOT going to be VP, you'll come to your senses!"
