WASHINGTON, DC: Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump stated that "protecting the vote" in the November election would be the committee's top priority, reported The Hill.

In an interview on Fox News 'Sunday Morning Futures' on Sunday, March 10, host Maria Bartimoro inquired about Lara's primary focus as the new RNC co-chair, pointing at Attorney General Merrick Garland's recent remarks to challenge states that enforce "discriminatory, burdensome and unnecessary restrictions on access to the ballot."

"That is a huge problem. We have three pillars that we need to focus on at the RNC to ensure victory on November 5: turn out the vote, protect the vote and raise money. But I would argue that maybe the most important of those three is protecting the vote, election integrity," Trump said.

The daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump took over the RNC leadership on March 8 as co-chair along with Michael Whatley replacing former chair Ronna McDaniels.

Lara Trump emphasizes on election integrity

The former television producer sided with her father-in-law's claims of fraud in the 2020 election, saying, "We have to ensure that, when people go vote, they feel like their vote counts, that they are inspired to go vote. We can never allow what happened in 2020 and the questions surrounding that election to ever happen again."

Ex-president Trump and his allies have made frequent claims that President Joe Biden's 2020 victory stemmed from Democrats rigging the election. However, there is no evidence for the same. He also faces federal indictments over his attempt to overturn the results that caused the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

Further into the interview, the newly elected RNC co-chair announced the committee had launched an "election integrity division," with a "nationwide network of volunteers" consisting of poll watchers and trained poll workers.

"And we currently have 78 lawsuits out right now in 23 states across this country to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat. And here's what I want to say. To anyone out there who is thinking about cheating in an election, we will go after you. You will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It is not worth it," she said, adding "every person" in the nation, irrespective of their party affiliations, "should want free, fair and transparent elections."

Former President Trump has cemented his position as the GOP nominee and is short of fewer than 200 delegates to get the official nomination. His opponent, Nikki Haley, suspended her campaign on March 6, following the former's decisive victory in the Super Tuesday primaries, leading to a Biden-Trump rematch in November.

Internet ridicules Lara Trump

Netizens mocked the ex-president's daughter-in-law for prioritizing vote protection and asked her to be "honest" instead.

One user wrote, "Good. Start by being honest."

"Well, if a Trump wants to protect the vote, then I’m opposed to protecting the vote," another person mockingly stated.

A third user remarked, "lol does she know the RNc doesn’t oversee elections."

"They should immediately support someone other than Trump then," someone quipped.

A fifth user referred to her earlier remarks on RNC covering her father-in-law's legal expenses and said, "Bahaha, her top priority is to keep Trump's lawyers paid."

"And by 'the vote,' she means Donald Trump," another added.
