NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Radio host Stephen A Smith believes that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be better than Vice President JD Vance if they face off in the 2028 presidential election’s Republican primary.

Recently, Smith has been weighing in on political races nationwide and mentioned Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Maryland Governor Wes Moore as his two favorite potential Democratic nominees for 2028.

Stephen A Smith says Marco Rubio 'gets things done'

During a Thursday, October 16 episode of his 'Straight Shooter' podcast on SiriusXM, Stephen A Smith said, "I got to be honest with you, if this Israel-Hamas deal comes out to be more positive than anything else, I don’t think anybody be able to compete with Marco Rubio who Trump called ‘maybe the greatest Secretary of State in American history."

The sports commentator continued, "Marco Rubio gets things done. He’s a former senator, now secretary of State and national security adviser. He is no joke. I put him above Vice President Vance, I can tell you that much."

Interestingly, on Wednesday, October 15, Smith co-hosted a live NewsNation town hall at the Kennedy Center alongside Chris Cuomo and Bill O’Reilly.

Moreover, he earlier floated the idea of launching his own presidential bid.

He told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in April, "I hope somebody from the Democratic Party steps up. I hope I light a fire under them and get a more qualified individual in this mix, so people can stop asking me this stuff and I can enjoy my life."

"But if it continues to get worse, all hands on deck, all of us should consider running, for crying out loud, rather than dealing with this nonsense," Smith added back in April.

Stephen A Smith slams Jasmine Crockett for her political tone

Stephen A Smith recently slammed Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and accused her of using "street language" that alienates voters and plays directly into the Republican Party’s hands.

The ESPN host said on his podcast that Crockett’s rhetorical style undermines her credibility and distracts from her strengths as an "educated, brilliant Black woman".

Referring to Crockett’s habit of using slang and combative phrasing in her speeches, he said, "When you’re in her position, that’s not going to get you anywhere."

Interestingly, Crockett has earlier faced criticism for mocking her Republican rivals, including calling Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, "Governor Hot Wheels".

Smith added that such language "might play well on social media, but it doesn’t help Democrats win votes."

"This educated, brilliant Black woman representing over 750,000 people is engaging in verbiage and rhetoric for the streets, and that’s fine when you in the streets. But how many of y’all bring the streets to the table when you at the negotiating table trying to get a deal done?," he added.

Smith also mentioned, "How many of you are able to think that for a second that you able to bring street verbiage to Capitol Hill and that’s going to work for you?"
